I know some dancing oil cap will happen on a tdi, but how much is to much? Ive had three and never noticed it that. Fast forward to today and the itch got worse so I went on a test drive of a 2014 beetle. You could tell it had been well maintained. I was about to buy it and I popped the hood and loosened cap. It. Nearly blew off. Ot was dancing like a cat on a hot tin roof. It chugged like a locomotive. I could not investigate much. Any thoughts would be apperiacted. It was a... Blow by question ..read more

plan to run stereo 10s at ~200 watts, 6 awg power and grounds, pretty flat rectangle box firing upwards, speaker level input specifically in terms of confirming there's nothing I can rupture by drilling a half dozen holes up against the rear seat for the brackets. I did this on my 88 Olds Cutlass and it went great but I guess I could just strap it down to the rings there could not find "sound system" in the forum directory figure the relevant lines are probably different on a diesel anyway ..read more

My son has a 2014 Golf TDI with 165k miles on it. We recently put a timing belt and a new alternator among other things. It's a a strong engine and the fuel milages is great as he drives many miles. The DPF and EGR need to be replaced. As well as a CV boot and some tires to pass inspection. I think if we got it fixed, he could probably get another 100k out of it and it's a car he really enjoys. In your opinion, should we spend the $3500 for the DPF or just cut our losses and look for... Need Advice 2014 Golf TDI DPF ..read more

New intercooler - hose retaining clips too short?
VW Vortex Forum » TDI and Diesel

I recently had a shop replace a leaky intercooler while away from home. On the drive back home I had one of the boost pipes next to the intercooler partially pop off on the highway. I've now gotten some new boost hoses in case it was because of wear on those tabs at the ends, but when I put them on I realized that it seems the clips are too short to be able to hold both hose tabs in place at the same time - i.e. depending on how I position the clamp either the top or bottom tab will be held... Has Anyone’s CP4 Self-Destructed?

I’ve been reading through some horror stories about the poorly designed CP4 fuel pump used in later model TDIs. Metal shavings throughout the fuel system is cataclysmic, of course. But has this actually happened to anyone here? The failure rate is pretty low, as I understand. Low quality American diesel is a major cause, so using a good additive seems to be vital ..read more

I'm doing my typical run through of everything that needs to be addressed and the intercooler system is one of them (leaks in a few spots) but the car still runs very good but with 190k it's definitely time to refresh With that being said does anybody know of a intercooler hose kit or a reseal kit? ALSO any suggestions on a catch can kit ..read more
