We have some good news for reiners following our recent visit with one of Australia’s top reining performance riders, Scott Burnett. Scott has been competing in reining events for most of his life and had never before heard of Scoot Boots and the benefits they provide reiners.  Our Scoot Boots actually fit perfectly over sliders - a shoe that is wider and longer than traditional shoes used for the rear hooves. In fact the opening design of Scoot Boots at the rear heel bulbs provides for the sliders to fit through, giving stability for the horse to exercise freely and with added security a ..read more

Part 3 of the Brainy Hoof Blog by Christa Lesté-Lasserre The smooth outer surface of the hoof is the hoof wall. It is the part of the hoof that is visible when the horse’s foot is flat on the ground, and it’s aptly named. It’s a fairly robust, essentially solid shell covering a multitude of complex tissues inside the foot. Built with its own level of complex construction, this wall serves as a barrier between the intricate inner structures and the outside environment.     Structure Cross-sections of the hoof wall reveal three distinct zones: an outer, a middle, and an inner zone. Pain in your horse’s feet affects every part of his body as he alters his movements to avoid the discomfort. Since horses are masters of disguising weaknesses and pain, it is vital to be able to recognize the subtle signs of soreness in your horse before irreversible damage occurs. By Helle Maigaard Erhardsen You should never let your horse become foot-sore, says Equine Sports Massage Therapist Lauren Hazelwood, because your horse will change his posture and movements to avoid putting weight on the sore part of his feet, and this will create problems up through his body. “I’d say in at least 7 ..read more
