MONROE, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) -- A Monroe restaurant has issued a counterclaim to a lawsuit against them, saying protesters for the business's all-ages drag shows have defamed and cost them business. The claim comes after protestors filed suit against East Frank Superette and Kitchen over the use of altered photos of them. In one photo, promotional restaurant material showed images of the protestors with altered signs. Driver charged with killing pedestrian in east Charlotte crash: CMPD

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) – The alleged driver in the December crash that killed a pedestrian in east Charlotte was arrested this week.  According to Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police, officers responded to the 9500 block of Parkton Road the afternoon of Dec. 20, 2023, where they found an injured pedestrian and a 2009 BMW 328 with damage.  Medic transported the pedestrian, 38-year-old Justin Travis Scott, to Novant Health with life-threatening injuries.  Two months later, on Feb. 25, Scott was pronounced dead from the injuries sustained in the incident ..read more

(QUEEN CITY NEWS) - A South Carolina woman accused of fraudulently obtaining nearly $18,000 in SNAP benefits is now facing charges, South Carolina's Department of Social Services said Thursday. York resident Tricia Ostapowicz, 50, was arrested Wednesday by agents with South Carolina's Department of Social Services, charged with food stamp fraud, and booked at the York County Detention Center.
