Last September I was handed the biggest shock of my life after the results of a biopsy revealed that I had throat cancer. To help other people, who may be at the start of of this scary and uncertain journey I thought I would describe my journey; the feelings I felt, the pain and for want of a better phrase, the process. Hopefully this will help people and show there is an other side and although it isn't pleasant, it will soon be over, especially if you have a passion like my garden to get you through!

My wife was diagnosed with ADH on core biopsy. Informed this is a precancerous condition and it could either be monitored or a surgical excision could be done. She has opted for surgery. Although everything based on test results points to this as a benign condition I am still scared it is cancer. Need advice ..read more

Looks like I may be changing from anastrozole (an aromatase inhibitor) and Ibrance to fulvestrant or imulestrant and staying on Ibrance. I'm in remission after two recurrences, and it looks like I can stay on the lower dose of Ibrance, but all my research points to changing the ai to a serd.
I would like to hear the strategies you might be using to avoid or at least reducing the pain from the fulvestrant injection. It is given in tush muscles every three weeks. I have read and heard that it can be quite painful.
My doctor may start a clinical trial of imulestrant in a few months - which is a p ..read more

Hi. I’m wondering if anyone has had a similar experience? My sister was diagnosed at age 45 with colon cancer 5 years ago. She was diagnosed at 3c with 9 lymph nodes involved. NED for 3 years, and then a spot on her liver, which was able to be resected. Now, a year after the liver, it’s in two spots on her lung, which they are able to resect as well. Her surgery is May 1. Currently she is being treated at Sloan Kettering, which I have heard is amazing. I guess I’m just questioning why the surgeries but no adjuvant or anything else being offered? Are they going to just continue to do surgery wh ..read more

67 y/o male, PSA 6.7ng/ml, recently discovered on blood test. I'm getting healthcare thru VA, who also outsources to local hospital because they have the latest and greatest in MRI/Biopsy abilities. I just had my MRI on 4/21/24 which indicated 19mm lesion and a smaller area of abnormality as well. A targeted biopsy was recommended. PI-RADS 5. Normal sized gland of 25cc.
VA recommended I schedule Biopsy from local hospital, and the soonest I could get scheduled was 7/22/24. To me, that seems quite a delay in treatment, but VA seemed unconcerned. Any thoughts on delaying biopsy for this time per ..read more
