This Saturday, August 12, was the 120th Feast for the First Night of the Prophet and his Bride. Rose [Edith Kelly] and Aleister Crowley married on August 12 1903, allowing her to escape an arranged marriage. This marriage, first of convenience, led to what would turn out to be one of the most important events in Crowley’s life — the writing of the Book of the Law. Several years ago, Frater Orpheus posted on his FB page: On July 12th, 1985 Grady McMurtry celebrated his Greater Feast. Art Institute of Chicago is hosting an exhibit of the work of Spanish-Mexican Surrealist Remedios Varo. Here’s an excerpt from The Art Newspaper’s feature on this exhibit: ‘Varo first encountered Surrealism as a student in the 1920s and began exhibiting with the surreal-leaning Logicofobista (phobia of logic) group in Barcelona a decade later.
