Hello, my friends! Welcome to a new Horror Showcase Recap where I curate a list of highlights from the latest Horror Showcase I have over on Twitter. The new one will be published tomorrow, keep an eye on Horror Games Community! The Summer season is known for being quiet for video games and indie horror is no exception! People are out on vacations, they’re taking breaks, focusing on themselves, and hopefully having a good time overall. I’d have loved to go on vacation myself but things are a bit rough these days so maybe next year. This year I’m still trying to buy back the things I had back ..read more

Hello, my friends, I am back with a brand new Showcase Recap after a short break. It was a much-needed break due to IRL things. Some good, some bad, some boring, but I have some exciting news that you’ll hear about soon. I hope you’ll like it. I’d like to start this recap with thanks to my supporters over at Ko-Fi who helped me pay for this year’s domain so this website can keep existing: Whit, Neil Bolt, Ruedefaux, Normanbatesjr, Artur, PrettyGrim, Akuma Kira, Cort Welch, Court. If you enjoy my curation and would like to help make things easier for this random immigrant who’s still trying to ..read more

My Friendly Neighborhood | Review | Survival horror with a fresh coat of paint

Have you watched Sesame Street when you were a kid? I haven’t. It just wasn’t interesting to me. And because MFN is heavily leaning on that aesthetic, I just wasn’t interested in the game either. However, it’s made by good people that know what they’re doing and it’s always better to try something before deciding whether to like it or not. If you are like me and you aren’t a Sesame Street kid, then this review will resonate better with you. But just so you know, I played the game for 4 hours and couldn’t finish it because of an annoying in-game mechanic that I hope the developer is going to ch ..read more

Greetings, my friends. I hope these past two weeks have been full of horror (the good kind) and you had a good time. This is the third issue of the Horror Showcase Recap, and I’d like to thank each and every one of you that took the time to read the previous two issues and even tried to support the website with donations. I had no idea that running a website could be this costly and those donations help me a lot, at least until I find a more reasonable option. I now upload every single image and video directly to the system so it’ll require extra cloud space after a while. The reason I’m doin ..read more

Horror lovers from all around the world, hello! Since this is the first edition of Horror Showcase Recap, let me first say a few words just to inform you as to what this is and how you can be a part of it. My name is Hürcan, or Hurc for easy pronunciation. I’ve been running horrorvisuals – Horror Games Community for over two years now. Ever since the first day, my intentions with it have been the same. Support creative people, share a love for horror, and most importantly, have fun. I’m proud to say that that’s been pretty much what I’ve been doing and it’s been great to see it resonated with ..read more

The Callisto Protocol | Review | AAA horror is dead, long live indie horror

The AAA horror scene has been long dormant. For a very long time, we haven’t been getting any new horror games except the Resident Evil series. For the last year though, we have been seeing a small movement in the AAA horror industry and with more new IPs and remakes to look forward to next year, The Callisto Protocol was possibly one of the most exciting horror titles that everyone had been waiting for. It was the original Dead Space director with possibly more people from the original crew. This was it. This was going to be the next big thing. Glen Schofield, the game’s director, talked a b ..read more

SPOOKWARE | Review | Celebrating horror with a beautiful art style

A horror game doesn’t have to be scary, to be considered a horror game. It may very well be about horror without being scary. Horror is a form of expression. It is a form of art. Sometimes a theme, sometimes a subgenre, and sometimes simply a style choice. While I advocate for this argument these days, a new comedy-horror game came out to support this argument. SPOOKWARE is out and it is very good at being a horror game without even trying to scare the player. It’s all about its love for the horror genre and it does a great job at reflecting this love to the player. Today, we’re taking a look ..read more

Lamentum | Review | A gothic love letter in the form of a survival horror game

Survival horror has always been one of the most liked subgenres of horror and while these days, we don’t see many good examples of that subgenre, some indie games manage to come out and help us remember those good old days of that genre with their pretty well-made selves. Limited saves, slow but gimmicky combat, overall hardcore game mechanics and heaps of puzzles. Those were what made survival-horror what it was and what Lamentum does really good as well. Lamentum is a brand new survival horror game developed by Obscure Tales and published by Neon Doctrine. Big thanks to them for providing m ..read more
