We have a great boxer named Buster. He is our 5 boxer. He is COVID dog so unfortunately he never got proper socialization and professional training. We have an issue with him. When he was younger pup someone came to our cottage late with a kid he jumped and head butted the kid. Anytime we have him out he jumps or lunges at kids. Is this anger or excitement? No growl quivering of lips. He can just be standing there leash slack and jump towards the kids. He loves some of them. Trying... Jumping ..read more

Excessive Urination

I'm at my wit's end with Brodie's peeing. He constantly wants to go outside to pee (and does), plus he pees in the house, either because he panics and can't get out in time (I'm constantly letting him out), or he just goes on the floor without warning. :cry_baby: This morning, I decided to take a urine sample to the vet's office to have it tested for a UTI, just to get it ruled out (the vet thinks it's behavioral); haven't heard back yet, and probably won't until Monday. The office... Excessive Urination ..read more

I took in 1 of 2 boxers that were dumped they was both skinny with bones showing. I picked her up Sunday sh e was a little timid but, warmed up quickly. I don't know much about her background but, I imagine it wasn't good. She's been to the vet and checked out good, she's estimated to be around 2 an weighs 44 lbs. The issue I'm having is she growls and barks at everyone men more than woman, she's aggressive towards other animals. She's partially housebroken... Aggression ..read more

I know many people are opposed to electric shock fences, so please spare me the lecture. Im completely aware of the risks and my neighborhood doesnt allow physical fences. Ive trained 3 prior dogs with the in ground containment and had great success. My boxer is about 17 months old and recently neutered. He's obsessed with attacking the neighbor dog. He won't leave the yard for anything, except when he sees the neighbor dog, he bolts. I tried talking to my neighbor about taking the dogs... Running through invisible fence ..read more

Stop pulling best method?

Hi all, I've had a read through the forum and got some info on pulling but I would just like to know what everyone's favourite ended up being. Those who tried everything....what finally worked? I've tried collar only, front clip harness, bombproof boxer loose lead training, stop start approach, change direction approach. Sometimes she does well but most time she doesn't, she has zero focus on walks, not interested in food. She is around 16 month old, does it get easier after the... Hi there. I've searched for and read all the posts about bored boxers and am glad that my dog isn't quite as unique as I thought, but it's still a very frustrating issue that I'm at my wit's end trying to solve. Lacey is 14 months old and still has the same high energy she had at 3 months old. Actually more, at least when she was young she napped once during the day. I am retired and work part time from home so I am with her all day and all night. I walk her twice a day, we have a... Another "Bored Boxer" post ..read more

We have a 5 year old, 40lb female rescue mixed breed (Mia) , and an 11.5 year old male lab mix rescue. We have adopted a 10 month old pure bred boxer boy (currently un-neutered, other two are both fixed). Bruno, our boxer, is co existing with them by being in a crate in the living room while they roam free. Our girl has play bowed him, touched noses etc. etc. FYI: we bring Bruno out of the crate a lot - both for outside playtimes and pottying, and for night-time TV snuggling - just put... 10 month old rescue scares my other dogs due to his play style and lack of doggy manners ..read more

Behavior change after spay

Our boxer Mabel is 12 months old. She went through a heat cycle and honestly had been the best dog in recent months. We got her spayed 2 weeks ago, and she’s showing behavior changes. More edgy, barky, doesn’t settle, and less responsive to me. I see now that there’s research showing that spaying can do this and I’m having huge regrets. Has anyone else experienced this change? Was it temporary or permanent ..read more
