My pitbull is a rescue and we love her dearly. Lately everytime I have a delivery from FedEx she litterly rams our chain link fence when the driver is delivering. I am in a wheelchair so it takes me a bit to get outside and at the gate. We had a delivery by a male driver just the other day. I caught him kicking my fence at her and told him stop. I reported him and now any Fedex truck she gets really upset when they even just go by. Ohterwise, she is very gentle ..read more

Drop It vs Out

I have always taught my dogs to “drop it” when I want them to release something they have in their mouths. I‘ve recently got a flirt pole, and both my dogs enjoy playing with it. I’ve read somewhere (I read a LOT, and don’t always remember where I read something), that I should tell my dog “out” when they’ve caught the end of the flirt pole and I want them to let it go. My question is whether teaching the “out” command is better for certain situations, different from when I tell them... Drop It vs Out ..read more

Hello, I adopted my Bella a year ago. She's around 4 or 5 years old. When is eary in the morning and there aren't many ppl around I take her to the beach I want to let her run but she wont stay with me. She wont come back when I call, she wont even play with me. She is completely indifferent to me. She will just go away and I always end up chasing her for miles. Is there anyway I can teach her to stay with me? Is she to old to learn that. Are there some dogs that wont ever learn that? Its... hot to teach a dog to stay with you ..read more

My precious little dog Honey is an excessive licker and I am not sure if this is normal or if she is having like an OCD moment For example I was lying on the floor last night with her and she just started continuously licking my arm/hand, after about 20 minutes of her licking I kind of nudged her head away, she stopped for a second then continued right on to licking again. She does this anytime someone is lying or sitting down. It doesn’t bother me, I just don’t want it to be a... Excessive Licking ..read more

Hi everyone! So I rescued a pitbull exactly a week ago today Her name is Ruffles, and she's 5 years old. I volunteer regularly at a local shelter, and poor Ruffles was at our since before Christmas and ended up getting adopted twice and then returned So I adopted her because she just really deserved a stable and loving environment after so much uncertainty and stress. Ruffles has adapted beautifully so far. She is very, very mellow and laid back. She ignores my cat, seems to be... Crating for adult dog ..read more

How do you teach your adult dog that you are the leader? Sounds dumb, but my female dog just flowed so easy with me I never really stopped to evaluate how I did it. Gimlet loves other dogs, but seems to get snappy with intact males. We took him for daycare eval at my work and I don't feel like he was treated fairly. He was put in an end kennel next to the outside door after I told them he gets spooked with things coming through doors, so of course he was over stressed and amped to start... Hi all! Us again. Penny is 16 weeks old now and although the house training is going well. She will go outside when I take her, first thing in the morning. After meals etc. I roughly take her once an hour but she STILL peeing in the house. I'm cleaning with enzymatic cleaner, I shout NO when she squats and quickly move her outside where she will go pee, and then praise and treat her like crazy. Should i start giving water at intervals? She loves her crate and I use it throughout the day... House training ..read more
