I relished as a child, the opportunity to have a do over at home plate in kickball growing up. Sometimes things didn’t go as planned with the first attempt to kick the ball. There could be many mishaps that could throw you off your game. None of us are immune to our human nature in falling short. There is a blessing as a believer in Christ that we get through grace a do over for a second chance. Street Ball I can remember growing up in Augusta, Georgia playing kickball after school on our dead end street of 14th Ave with any ball we could find! My late childhood friend Roscoe would always pitc ..read more

I have seen my share of injures as a mother of four. I make sure to have my First Aid kit ready and available for when one of my kiddos comes to me with a “boo boo” with the hopes that a colorful bandied is going make it all better. We all have our little scars in the house that each one of us here has a story to tell about, better yet, some of the scars are so old we have forgotten the story behind them. I still have noticeable scars on me from childhood; the stories these old scars could tell. I have some recent scars on my arm that for the life of me I can’t hide which resulted from a near ..read more

Forgiveness can be a sensitive area for many of us depending on what we may have experienced in our lives. The biggest hindrance that many of us have in navigating through our healing journey that keeps our spirits captive with unforgiveness is the brainwash misconceptions of what forgiveness actually doesn’t mean. There is a relief in our spirits being lifted, improvement with our relationships, we become better parents in our journey , and we open ourselves up to receive all the blessings God has for us when we make the decision to forgive. When we forgive we move on in with taking ownership ..read more

Forgiveness Is A Gift For You

I learned more about the gift of grace in my parenting journey in witnessing that it goes to a depth of compassion that words can’t describe. Many of us as parents are able to offer a loving pardon of forgiveness when one of our children falls short. It’s like without saying a word verbatim I can look at one of my kids after a mishap in us both coming to terms knowing there’s love, forgiveness, and we’re good in doing our best to move on from whatever happened. I’m keeping it honest in sharing that it’s not as easy to forgive and forget with some situations like it is with my little brood. &nb ..read more

Putting Pride Aside: Make It Right In Taking Ownership

It’s not a week as a parent and as a teacher that I don’t witness a disagreement between children. It humors me that even if the conflict comes to emotional tears or unfortunate blows that our youth can occasionally beat us to the punch in choosing peace over pride with apologizing in moving on. We have to sometimes push our pride to the side in thinking of the overall picture in acting in wisdom, and we must allow our faith as believers to be the catalyst forefront with our actions to take ownership when we’ve done anything that put a strain on our relationships with others. I am not the fondest of unexpected guests dropping by my home unannounced, but I was pleasantly surprised to have my two best friends to stop by recently one evening when they couldn’t reach me on my jacked-up cellphone. They both were astonished in seeing one another since they both didn’t communicate to each other that they were going to come by my home for a visit. I’ve stayed connected in the usual one on one with them separately as with adult friendships. However, it’s harder now for us to get together in the same place with all three of us having busy lives, families, and personal matter ..read more

Each one of us has a unique story along with having various other details about our personal lives that we have a choice to disclose. Depending on our personalities and preferences some of us are more transparent naturally in sharing with others. I am for the most part an open person, but I have learned that even in openness that we should guard our hearts in protecting our stories in our journeys. Let’s Talk I have a very dear friend that says in her words, ” I have a girlfriend spirit” in making others feel comfortable in sharing about themselves. She always asks me what new friend I’ve met ..read more

Name Calling : Remember You’re A Child Of God

The immaturity of name calling is loosely associated with the behavior of children on the playground. I recall my adolescent years in middle school where there would be neighborhood jiving contests in which the most hilarious blow towards another person would bring upon an eruption of loud ” Ooh ooh” from those of us surrounding this pubescent fight of words. The behavior of name calling and magnifying other’s perceived flaws doesn’t dissipate at youth, it continues throughout life , yet it’s more cunning with what we call throwing shade. It’s essential for us as believers in Christ to know we ..read more

Stop Ruminating In Trusting With God: Let It Go!

I told my little strong willed daughter to let it go after we walked to the car to leave our one on one walk after an incident on the playground when an impromptu playmate decided to act unfairly in a tag game they were playing together. My daughter kept looking back yelling,” Not fair, you cheated!” I shared with her that it was just a game, and I advised her to move on. She couldn’t help but look back with tears in being so upset continuing to repeat the same action until we made it to the car. There are times in our walk with God where some trivial action takes place that for the life of us ..read more
