It is no surprise that academic journals occasionally publish articles deeply critical of things faithful Christians and some conservatives hold dear. But the well-respected Journal of Marriage and Family (JMF), which has long reframed from publishing overly woke diatribes, has finally submitted to this trend. Bethany L. Letiecq, a scholar from George Mason University’s College of Education and Human Development, has just published a new article in JMF entitled, breathlessly, “Theorizing White heteropatriarchal supremacy, marriage fundamentalism, and the mechanisms that maintain family inequal ..read more

From the outside, the Bletchley Park estate gave every impression of a gentle and well-heeled, idyllic English home – which was exactly why Admiral Sir Hugh Sinclair purchased the property in May of 1938. Only Sinclair, who was head of Great Britain’s Secret Intelligence Service (SIS or MI6), didn’t buy the Gothic Tudor mansion for its luxury or promise of leisure. Instead, he bought it as an unassuming location to house and host “codebreakers” – individuals tasked with deciphering intercepted enemy messages that threatened the country’s sovereignty and safety. It was from Bletchley Park on Oc ..read more

Stafford’s story is one of those “Only in America” type journeys. Since President Dwight Eisenhower signed the National Aeronautics and Space Act of 1958, there have been 360 astronaut candidates. Of that that total number, 212 have been from the military and 191 have been pilots. Stafford checked both boxes. A graduate of the United States Naval Academy who was commissioned into the United States Air Force, General Stafford was part of ..read more

With life’s busy schedule, many may assume regular family dinners are largely a thing of the past. But new research from family scholars indicates that getting the family together around the dinner table to enjoy a meal flavored with unrushed conversations is still a very good idea. Scholars at the Institute for Family Studies (IFS) examined the academic research on the importance of family dinners over the last few decades and conclude family dinners “offer an especially valuable chance for family members to come together to share the day’s highs and lows, discuss personal issues, current eve ..read more

Here is an obvious fact that is unfortunately, becoming less obvious to people all the time: Mothers and fathers are different. Just think about that. You exist because of the very fact that a particular woman, your mother, made a very unique and essential contribution to your creation in intimately close cooperation with a particular man, your father, who also made an essential and wholly unique contribution to your creation. If this fact is confusing to you, there is help here. None of us would not exist if fathers and mothers were essentially the same and gender is merely a social construct ..read more
