Question on MGS Legacy Collection for PS3

Since I can't really get a straight answer on other sites, I'm hoping someone here has some information. It was recently brought to my attention that the MGS series (and a few others) are available on the PS3. When I started to look up pricing, I found there's a MGS HD Collection and a MGS Legacy Collection. The Legacy appears to have a lot more games available, but my concern is how well they've been ported/rebuilt. I still have all my old consoles with the exception of my 360 (ten years old and the power pack finally died), so if the ports have glaring issues, I'd rather just connect my olde ..read more

Anybody remember the Sega Master System?

Back in the mid to late 80's, I remember looking through the Sears catalog and salivating over the Sega Master system and its games. I was still using my TI 99/4a home computer from the early 80's for gaming, and I had played various Atari systems at my friends' houses. Eventually I got a cheap used Sega Genesis, put a Master System converter on top of it, and played Golvellius to death on it. Evidently in some parts of the world, new games were coming out on the Master System through the mid 90's..... Anyone else have any fond memories of this system ..read more

Impressive homebrew games on the Atari 7800

So the Atari 7800 is a console that I never really thought about, at least not nearly as much as the NES, or even the Master System. But I saw some homebrew games made for it, and they peaked my interest in the console. If you look at most of the original games made for the 7800, they look unimpressive, and ugly. Gave me the impression that the 7800 was by far the least powerful console of the 3. But these homebrew games have me reconsidering that. Some experimental work I saw made my jaw drop to be honest. Some arcade games like Mario Bros are being remade for the 7800, and even Bubble Bobble ..read more

Hey I have an Xbox Series X. I have a 4k Samsung television and a Asus 27 inch Oled monitor. Would you all suggest i run it on the 27 inch monitor 1440p @120hz or use the television and run it @4k? For right now im only playing Fortnite and just download Starfield. The oled 27inch monitor is hdmi 2.0 not 2.1. (xbox x still runs on it i guess it just doesnt down sample it from 4k 120 to 1440p). So I haven't had a console since the original Xbox. I'm an ex PC gamer and I'm looking at getting a console ONLY to play Golf. I know right. I just love playing Golf with friends. Maybe it'll lead to football or racing games but we will see. So.....I was thinking of just getting the $250 Xbox S (digital) starter kit that comes with 3 month subscription to game pass or whatever it's called. That way I can test the Golf games and see which I want to buy first. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks ..read more

Is PSVR2 on PS5 a good entry into VR or are you better off with a PC VR set?

Saw Target had the PS5 down to $350 this weekend. It's around the price point I was looking for. Kids want to try VR and I was considering the PSVR2. Not sure how it compares to the PC solutions though. Price-wise it lands in the middle. PSVR2 - $550 Quest2 - $250 Valve - $1000 ..read more

After delays in solving a new PC build, I figured I would buy a new Xbox console. I went out to Microsoft's website, selected the Diablo IV edition and went to check out. Microsoft now requires that I have a Microsoft account in addition to an Xbox account just to buy the console from them. Previously, Microsoft had no idea who I truly was. I'd buy the console in retail and buy a subscription card as well. Use a fake name and custom email address and had online anonymity for a long, long time. Currently, they want to know way too much personal information and their excuse for this is to prot ..read more

Look, I get it, we are a consumer culture, where technology obsolescence is very dominant and no one really gives a damn. Having said that, I cannot think of a single game, in the Xbox One generation of consoles, that would single handedly, and instantly, declare a console obsolete. Maybe I'm not enough of a console gamer to truly know and understand if there were such cases in the past, but I really cannot think of one. Here's my problem.. Look, every game that was ever made for Xbox One could literally run on every single Xbox console, from the very first original Xbox One to Series X. Sure ..read more
