Greetings and Happy New Year! On behalf of our leadership team here at Black Nonbelievers, I hope that your 2024 is off to a great start. As for us, we are looking forward to a busy and productive year of advocacy, community building, visibility and support. January 21st marked our 13th year in existence. I had to take a few days to think about what to say about this monumental occasion. When we think about 13 in human years, we see it as a time of growth, change, and challenges. 13 is old enough to have established a foundation, and yet is still maturing. 13 is still learning, still stu ..read more

We are in the holiday season of 2023, and today is one where thanks is given. At Black Nonbelievers, we acknowledge that Thanksgiving as we know it in the Unites States is not the most historically accurate, nor does it hold equal sentiments for everyone. However, we also acknowledge that Thanksgiving and harvest celebrations are quite common throughout the world, which was also true for the people who were indigenous to this land. And it is with this in mind that we pay tribute and join in saying our heartfelt thanks to all who have supported us this year ..read more

Greetings! This past Saturday, October 21st in Washington, D.C., I had the pleasure of attending the premiere of “gOD-Talk”, the Smithsonian’s National Museum for African American History and Culture’s long anticipated documentary. Presented in the museum’s Oprah Winfrey Theater, the film focuses on the shifting landscape of religion among Black millennials. I am proud to share that during the course of production, BN played a major role in providing the atheist perspective, and is featured prominently in the film.  There will be a series of screenings&nbs ..read more

Still Rolling Strong at BN!!!

No, it isn’t just a Biden administration slogan. It’s also what we’ve been doing here at BN. As I prepare to celebrate my 47th birthday on September 4th, there is another phrase that is heavily on my mind. It goes like this, “Ride until the wheels fall off”. Our “wheels” at BN have been rolling for 12 years now. Like many things, they have weathered their share of storms, dangerous paths, and needs for repair and improvement. But through it all, they keep moving along, and more importantly, FORWARD. The BN team and I are excited about where things are going for the rest of 2023 and ..read more

Christian Nationalism on full display. Greetings, This year, Operation Save America, the Christian Nationalist, anti LGBTQ, anti abortion organization, held their annual conference in the Atlanta area, from July 17-22.  A major portion of their event included protesting (ie, harassing) A Preferred Women’s Health Clinic, a reproductive health center in Forest Park, which is on the South side of the Metro Atlanta area.
