Greetings! I know that I have been writing to you more than usual this month, but I have more great news to share.   I had the opportunity to be a guest on the very popular show Middle Ground, produced by Jubilee Media, for an episode featuring Black Christians and Black Atheists. And while millions of people will be in church on Easter Sunday tomorrow, BN will be hosting a virtual watch party at 11:30 am EST for the premiere of this episode. We invite you to join in to watch it together, hear updates on BN, and have an engaging discussion.  l-r: Edith Gray, myself ..read more

Greetings! March 23rd is the annual celebration of World Atheist Day. And because we’re also celebrating Women’s History Month, BN has teamed up with the Skeptic Haven network for a special fundraising episode of Women Atheists Unload. Mark Robinson, Lt. It is this type of rhetoric from elected officials that has endangered the rights that many of us have worked so hard to achieve and prote ..read more

Greetings, As we stated previously, Black History Month is a time for learning, celebrating, and supporting the important contributions of Black people and communities. And for BN, that means doing our part for the nonreligious among us, both historically and currently. To conclude this very important month, we will be hosting a referendum on an ongoing and VERY important initiative – financial reparations for the descendants of enslaved Africans. Based on recent proposed legislation and this Freethought Today article that was written by Cynthia McDonald, BN’s Chicago affiliate ..read more

Greetings and Happy New Year! On behalf of our leadership team here at Black Nonbelievers, I hope that your 2024 is off to a great start. As for us, we are looking forward to a busy and productive year of advocacy, community building, visibility and support. January 21st marked our 13th year in existence. I had to take a few days to think about what to say about this monumental occasion. When we think about 13 in human years, we see it as a time of growth, change, and challenges. 13 is old enough to have established a foundation, and yet is still maturing. 13 is still learning, still stu ..read more

We are in the holiday season of 2023, and today is one where thanks is given. At Black Nonbelievers, we acknowledge that Thanksgiving as we know it in the Unites States is not the most historically accurate, nor does it hold equal sentiments for everyone. However, we also acknowledge that Thanksgiving and harvest celebrations are quite common throughout the world, which was also true for the people who were indigenous to this land. And it is with this in mind that we pay tribute and join in saying our heartfelt thanks to all who have supported us this year ..read more
