Colorful Wedding Dresses
One thing we have seen on the rise lately are colorful wedding dresses. And we totally love it!
When most people think of a bride, they think of the color white. It’s just the nature of it. Despite wedding dresses being colorful even back in colonial times, white has become tradition. Well, that has clearly changed over the years.
We get really excited when people wear dresses of a different color. Why? It shows the personality of a person a LOT. We’ll give two examples from last season that we thought were amazing.

You may be asking yourself, “What is a sparkler exit?” Well, it’s a lot of things.
Sparkler exits at weddings are just a few of the following things:
PRETTY!
Popular. Seriously, if you have been on Pinterest at any point in the last ten years, you’ve seen sparkler exit photos.
Not at easy as they look.
Require a little bit of planning for an amazing result.
So let’s get started. You want to have a sparkler exit at your wedding. If you have never done one or seen one done, you’re probably thinking they are pretty cut and dry. Have your guests light spar ..read more

Taylor’s Falls Engagement Photos
We love shooting Taylor’s Falls engagement photos. The area is SO beautiful. Regardless of the season, it’s gorgeous.
That being said, this entire winter has been not normal. It’s been so sunny and warm with such small snowfall. It just so happened that the weekend of Samantha and Andrew’s session, we got a lot of snow. It was so funny because we had shot her brother’s engagement photography the week prior. There was absolutely no snow then. We felt like we had shot in a different area of the county because the weather change ..read more

Ham Lake Family Photography
We spent our morning doing Ham Lake family photography after being contacted by our past clients, Caitlyn and Chris.
It was then that we realized that it had been two years since we had photographed Caitlyn and Chris’ wedding. That wedding had been so much fun. The two of them are so positive and friendly. I always remember their wedding as the one where the bride did a run when she woke up too early on her wedding day. It seems like such a cool way to just calm down on a busy day.
We were very excited when we heard from them last year.  ..read more

This was the first time we had been to Rice Creek Regional Trail for engagement photos. As a result, we would highly recommend it.
Rice Creek Regional Trail is this awesome trail up in Shoreview, Minnesota. Since we normally shoot in the cities and the southeastern suburbs, we had never been to it. However, our couple recommended it, so we opted for it. For anyone interested, it does require a permit from the city. I’ll leave a link to that here.
This was a really busy day for us, so this engagement session ended up being at 9am. It was pretty ideal, as ther ..read more

Let me tell you, March engagement photography is not something that is normally too popular with us. After all, who plans on March engagement photography in Minnesota? This year was different.
The weather has been all over the place this winter. Last week, it started at thirty degrees and later went up to nearly seventy. The day of this session, it was forty, but so windy that it felt like ten degrees. This was actually the second shoot of our day, as we had one early in the morning. It was Saint Patrick’s Day weekend and the weekend of Kyle’s mom’s bi ..read more

It’s the first engagement photography session of the big 2024 season! We were really excited to do this session because it means the big year is beginning. Joe and Timm are really nice people too. They wanted to do engagement photography in Stillwater, so we decided to start in Pioneer Park. We have shot wedding photography in Pioneer Park before, so we know the space. For such a small area, you can get so much photography done there. The view is beautiful.
We met Joe and Timm last year when they reached out to us to shoot their October wedding. It wil ..read more

A Bavaria Downs wedding makes for SUCH a gorgeous wedding. And we are not fans of the winter, but I actually like a Bavaria Downs wedding better in the winter. There is a magical quality to it with all the snow. That being said, it was ONE degree out when we arrived in the morning. But there was a -10 wind chill so it felt SO much colder. Regardless, this wedding was wonderful.
We shot Lex and Jake’s engagement session during the warm months. They are both so cute. They’re the type of people that were really nervous about the engagement photography.&nb ..read more

I just have to say, Christmas engagement photography is fun. What do I mean by Christmas engagement photography? I think you know. If you don’t, I consider it anything with the pretty Christmas lights or decor in it. For this specific session, we went to Rice Park with Maria and Andrew. Rice Park in Saint Paul does an awesome job with all the Christmas lights during the holiday season.
When we first arrived, it was shortly before sunset. We were concerned that the lights may not turn on, as it was already getting darker. So we walked down the block fro ..read more

So, to start with, this was so fun. Maybe it’s the Midwestern in me, but I LOVE cabin engagement photos. Cabin engagement photos have such a cozy vibe to them.
When we met with Alexis and Ryan, we talked about their engagement photography. Alexis had this vision of wearing a red dress in them. Now, anyone that knows me know I just love taking photos of people in red dresses. I don’t know why. It’s just a thing. Red stands out so well. However, people had been telling her that red doesn’t photograph well. This is a prime example of asking th ..read more
