We hope that everyone in their own way feels a strong connection to this beautiful sphere we call Earth! At 3 Springs, we count ourselves blessed to work daily with nature to produce healthier soil and healthier meat, that’s why we started this ranch a year ago! Regenerative Agriculture has become a more common phrase in the past few years, and even buzzwordy at times. The reality is that being regenerative doesn’t apply to just agriculture, it is first our mindset and then our decisions that lead to adapting with nature and restoring, or improving the health of the planet and ourselves. We’ve learned many lessons and made many new friends, we’d love to share both with you briefly. Lessons Learned Run the figures, then figure it out We did our best to be responsible when we decided to 10x our chicken operation this year. We calculated ..read more

Spring is under way in the Kamas Valley, sometimes. Most years we seem to get decent spring rains or snows. Last year, 2021, we did not get any whatsoever and got a record-breaking heat wave in June. This year has been more common. Occasional snowstorms in late May is more like it at 6400 feet of elevation. As many of you already know, one of our main missions is to educate anyone who is interested about thinking holistically, ecological/soil health, and sustainable ranching practices in the myriad of environments that exist in the Intermountain West. On Saturday June 18th, 2022 we will be ho ..read more

There are many things in life that we are blissfully unaware of until they come knocking at your door. Sometimes we even get fair warning that they are coming and we still do nothing. The reason for this are most operators want a larger/older calf to sell to the sale barn in September or October. The calves that sold to stock yards are known as feeder cattle on the commodity trading floor. Feed yards are willing to pay more for a larger calf because they don't ne ..read more

The precipitation of 2020 & 2021 was the least amount precipitation most had seen in their lifetimes according to some of the old timers in Kamas valley. Some even say it was the worst drought in the last 500 years. What that meant for our wintering program this year were record high hay prices. And in our neck of the woods, grazing year round is a gargantuan task. Our goal this year was to feed our hay on bare spots. We are attempting to reintroduce biology and life to soil that was desertified by overgrazing from p ..read more
