Embarking on our first trip to Cuba was an exhilarating experience, fueled by a passion for adventure and a deep curiosity about this island nation’s rich culture and landscapes. Our journey wasn’t just any vacation; it was a retreat designed for climbers, slackliners, acroyogis, yogis, and handstand enthusiasts. Given Cuba’s unique political and socio-economical position, we were fully aware that our trip would present a unique set of challenges. However, with meticulous preparation, our journey turned into a resounding success, allowing us to immerse fully in the stunning beauty and warmth ..read more

The feasibility of this trick depends on the length of your webbing and the distance between the trees available to you. Why Consider this Setup? Imagine heading out for a slacklining session, and a friend joins you wanting to practice but doesn’t have their slackline. Or, perhaps you’re conducting a workshop with short lines and need to set up more lines than you have webbing for. Fol ..read more

Indoor Slackline Setup

Depending on the situation, rigging indoors can be as easy as using a column as a “tree” or as complex as having to reinforce a wall and install plates. While we don’t want to discourage you to rig indoors, we do want to encourage you to seek professional help while doing so. Here are some indoor rigging examples. Some easier than others. My partner – Sam Salwei co-founder of YogaSlackers – and I traveled together in a 1988 Ford Festival (the Peace Love Car) for over 6 years. Now we live in a 1988 Mitsubishi Delica. Living in a micro car – now a micro van – for an extended length of time allowed us to learn a thing of two about turning any vehicle into a comfortable and utilitarian home. A few years ago, we realized we could use an adapted version of our micro vehicle nomad system to avoid depending on hotels or expensive travel vehicles. Instead of spending tons of money renting a camper, we rent a car and turn it into a tem ..read more

In case you don’t want to read the whole post below, here’s a link to check out my upcoming courses with Justice Movement! As we all careen around the final corner of the dumpster fire that has been 2020, I hope New Year’s resolutions will look a little different. Generally the resolutions we’re encouraged to make are all about self improvement. Whether it’s eating right, saving more money, reducing stress or spending less time on social media I think of resolutions as something self-referential. What can ..read more

Slacklining for 500 Days In a Row In a recent post on Instagram, YogaSlackers teacher Erica McCormick celebrated her first send on a line she had been attempting, on and off, for almost two years. Towards the bottom of the post, in parenthesis, she mentioned that the send came on her 482nd day of slacklining every day. Although it was included, almost as an afterthought, Sam and I found that to be inspiring. 482 days!  We recently had the opportunity to catch up with Erica to see what she’s learned since starting on her slackline-every-day journey.  Instagram: @ericamccormick Wh ..read more
