My Favourite Slackline Spot – Mark Blackl

Hi my name is Mark – I live in Bolton. I started slacklining in 2017 using a ratchet strap (literally off the back of a lorry) between two trees in the garden. I was inspired by a You Tube picture of some guy stood in exposure in the middle of freaky nowhere – just standing in the sky like Vitruvian Man with huge ground clearance and miles from the cliff edges. I was gobsmacked. After years of messing around with ropes and rigging on structures at work, climbing extensively and flying paragliders it immediately grabbed my attention……….. ‘Fffffffffuuuuuuuuuu**k, I gotta find out what that feels ..read more

Hi, I’m Charlotte and I’m based in Sheffield. I stumbled across slacklining early in 2016 when I met the most wonderful bunch of people trying to start a massage train outside Sheffield station. Encouraged by the warmth of their smiles, I joined in and soon learned they had been highlining on the Sheffield Hallam University buildings as part of the Sheffield Adventure Film Festival. They gave me the most inspiring introduction to the sport, and I never looked back. These days, the top of Meersbrook Park is my most favourite place to slackline, where a cosy little corner of trees provides the ..read more

My name is Arlo and I live in Brighton and have been slacklining for about 5 years. I first discovered slacklining whilst living in Australia, pretty soon after trying it my friend and I bought a line and proceeded to spend the majority of our free time in the park attempting to walk the 25-meter line. It’s amazing to look back and see how much progression I have made and also to see how much the sport has evolved in recent years and I can’t wait to see where it will go from here.  My favourite spot, the rig, has to be my local spot. It’s located on Brighton seafront opposite the former ..read more

My Favourite Spot – Tom Parker

My name is Tom and I’ve been slacklining since 2012. My favourite spot has changed a lot over the years and generally follows the discipline I’m focussed on at the time. The spot that has probably had the biggest effect on me is Sefton Park in Liverpool. While it helped a lot that I was local for the first 3-4 years of my slacklining, it’s really the amount of variety of lines you can rig there. The spot that is most known to people is ‘by the bandstand’. Here you can rig a seemingly endless amount of beginner lines, longlines over flat ground, longlines over a dip and even shorter lines over ..read more
