Day 58 – O Logoso to Corcubion Videos

Another short day – 15.7 kilometres. In fact, it turned out to be eighteen. My biggest concern today was keeping my knees in one piece to make sure that not only could I get to Fisterra, but also then a fairly long day to finish in Muxia the following day. So, there was a little bit of a climb up to Hospital after having a really good breakfast in O Logoso. It was just a short climb of a kilometre and a half up to Hospital. I decided to have another break just to make sure that my knees were okay and the breakfast in O Logoso was really just toast and jam. I always find I need a bit of protein ..read more

Day 57 – Santa Marina to O Logoso Videos

A relatively short day today – 16 1/2 kilometres. The reason I did that was that it was either that or probably a very long stage of more than 30. And as I’m kind of winding down on my Camino, I thought I’d break the next days into two shorter ones. So, today was from Santa Mariña to O Logoso. It was a really interesting walk today. It was a fairly steep climb out of Santa Mariña up onto the top of the hill, which gave a beautiful view out over the surrounding countryside and a reservoir beyond. It was interesting that there was a Guardia Civil car at the top of the hill. I’m not quite sure if ..read more

Day 56 – Negreira to Santa Marina Videos

Today was almost 21 kilometres from Negreira to Santa Mariña. I left fairly early out of Negreira as I didn’t want to arrive too late at my accommodation, which was Casa Pepa in Santa Mariña. They had asked me to arrive by 1:00 o’clock. I think they are fairly busy and wanted to make sure that I was going to take up the accommodation that I booked. I actually booked that one on WhatsApp, so it wasn’t a guaranteed booking. The walk was very pleasant. It was a steady climb out of Negreira for a couple of 100 metres ascent. Then a combination of road walking and walking through forests and nice c ..read more

Day 54 – Santiago Videos

It’s a day 54 and this is very much a rest day, and I don’t know why it is, but every time I come into Santiago my legs decide that that’s it, they had enough, and suddenly I’m developing shin splints. But we have another six days walking to go, so I will have to make sure that I do have a good rest today. I’ll be using the foam roller on my shins and putting in plenty of pain relief gel because tomorrow morning bright and early, I am setting off to Finisterre whether my legs will like it or not. Of course, an important part of the rest day will be visiting the cathedral because I was having a ..read more

Day 51 – Lalin to Bandeira Videos

A very pleasant walk of 21 kilometres from Lalin to Bandeira. Today was interesting because the two caminos merge, that is the Camino Invierno, that I’ve been walking on, and the Camino Sanabres. On the Camino Sanabres you get a lot of people who have been walking from Seville on the Via de la Plata, but also it’s a popular Camino in its own right with a lot of people starting in Ourense. So, when the two caminos merged at A Laxe it was immediately noticeable that there were more pilgrims on the path and I think I must have met 10 in the first couple of hours, which was very pleasant because I ..read more

Day 46 – A Labrada to Montforte de Lemos Videos

So today was 20 kilometres bit of a mix of forest track walking and a little bit of road. The frist 7 1/2 kilometres was out of A Labrada to A Pobra. It started out with a hill of about 200 metres ascent in the rain and the mist, which was really quite nice. I started off at dawn and looking back through the mist, it was really a fantastic view. And then on arriving in A Pobra, I checked prior if there’s anything open and then indeed there was a couple of cafes and a little shop open. So, I found a cafe for breakfast, which was really good as I had left A Labrada prior to the pension providing ..read more

Day 45 – Soldon to A Labrada Videos

Twenty-two kilometres and a very big climb. I started out of Soldon before dawn. And I took the lower road route into Quiroga. As I was having some problems with my shoes and I wanted to test them on an even surface to begin with. I also wanted to catch breakfast in Quiroga and I found a wonderful breakfast, which set me out for the rest of the day. A large part of the day was then climbing up to an altitude of about 700 metres with stunning views in all directions, and then a very sharp descent down through a couple of almost deserted villages to A Labrada where I’m staying in the pension Pac ..read more
