Hi y'all. So I'm trying to install the extended kernel on my Windows Vista machine, but I ran into a bit of an issue while installing the prerequisite updates. See, the thumb drive I had all the Windows Update files on was accidentally unplugged in the middle of installing KB4474419, forcing me to cancel it. Now when I try to install it again, it says "This update does not apply to your system". It didn't do that before, it only started after the update failed and I cancelled it. Please note that this is x64 only. If you are using the extended kernel, you may need to reinstall it after updating Vista. I've done this for 7 and 8.1, about time I do it for Vista. It's possible to get Windows Vista updates until January 2024 by using the Windows Server 2008 updates, which are compatible with Vista since they use the same NT kernel. While it's possible to patch the Windows Update section in control panel to Server 2008 updates, this only patches it to standard ESU, which ended January 2023.
