Hi! My husband and I are about to spend a couple weeks in Italy. We're planning on taking the train from Venice to Florence, Florence to Cinque Terre, and Cinque Terre to Roam. Is it doable/affordable to just buy train tickets at the station as we go? Or is there a big advantage to buying them ahead of time?
Thank you!

I read on this sub a recent thread that says Credit Card coverage doesn't cover rental car liablity in Italy. I did the research and found that to not be the case for my Visa card, so just want to set the record straight:

Hello Reddit friends, first time poster here so bear with me. Looking to go to the Dolomites for a ski trip with 8 and 11 year old this Christmas time. I hear this may be the best area for early season snow.
Wanted to get some ideas on whats most important about staying in the area. Seems that most places are either connected by some lift/gondola? We just dont want to be walking for long time with ski boots on with kids. But any good suggestions of which towns or hotels to stay in would be Helpful. We would also like to have somewhere to walk around so we thought staying in Ortisei may be bet ..read more

Does this sound reasonable? My husband and I will be traveling in late April/early May. I like a mix of historical sites and museums, but I am also looking forward to a couple days with access to a beach, nature and hiking. I’d love suggestions for Tuscan stops on Thursday and Friday. We are not big drinkers so not really into stopping at Wineries.
Day 1 - 8 am land in Rome, train to Florence. Arrive by noon. Half day in Florence.
Day 2 - Florence
Day 3 - half day Florence, get rental car drive to Elba Ferry, lunch on the way, arrive Elba around 5pm
Day 4 - Elba
Day 5 - Elba
Day 6 - morning d ..read more

Hello,
I know it depends on the temperatures that vary, but has anyone swam in Tyrrhenian Sea (Viareggio and surroundings) mid September when the temperatures drop to 24/25 degrees? I wanted to visit the Tuscany coastline in a week and really want to go for a swim, but I'm not sure if the weather would allow. Any advice?

Yesterday I found out at the port in Naples our ferry to Positano was cancelled. After a long day of taking the train and bus, along with transit strikes to top things off, we made it to Positano. For our trip back to Naples though I’d like to know where to look to get the latest on ferry cancellations. NLG ferry website isn’t much help.

Hello guys, I will be for a week in Porto Santo Stefano and I wonder if you know any interesting places to see? I would love to see the landscape or visit small towns for a hike etc. I will have my car so I can move for about 100-150km around Porto Santo Stefano. Do you have any recommendations?

Ciao! I was driving my rental car from Sorrento to Naples Airport when I encountered this toll booth which didn’t accept my Visa credit card (2.3€ fees). The unpaid toll ticket I received is from “Salerno Pompei Napoli SPA” company but I was driving on A3 - Napoli Salerno route. I was wondering if I could pay off this ticket at Autostrade Italia website because it offers card payment option unlike “Salerno Pompei Napoli SPA”? Thanks in advance!!
