Hi,
I was going to book a day trip to Rome with P & O but there does not seem to be one that includes a walking tour, just Rome on your own for £60. I believe the ship docks in the morning and leaves in the evening on 31/8/24.
I just wondered how feasible it is to do an independent trip (making sure I get back in plenty of time to the port of course) and, if so, is it recommended I book something in advance?
The ship goes to Livorno too, (for Florence) and I wondered the same thing there too.
Any advice, sugggestions or tips would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance ..read more

We have an overnight stop in Livorno on our upcoming cruise. Arrive day one 8am leave day two 6pm.
We would like to visit both Cinque Terre and Florence/Pisa. Have previously visited both but felt rushed in each location. Cruise is in April 2025 so swimming/beach is not really a consideration.
Questions:
1). Which location should we do on our first day where we have no set time to return to the ship?
2) Should we consider staying overnight at a hotel or airbnb to maximize time in one location?
3) Are there any options of transportation to/from CT or Florence tha ..read more

What are your plans for transportation since the port has changed to Ravenna for the first 2 days?
How are you getting to Ravenna?
The Italiarail is reaching Ravenna to late, so that isn't an option..
Any suggestion.
I see some people taking the train to Bologna (hour ride) then a private ride to Ravenna
I am not flying in the same day and the NCL hotels are sold out per my TA.. So I cant buy the hotel with transportation package.
Since I am flying in after, I cant get the transportation alone ..read more

A group of 8 have been informed that instead of getting on the Viva in Trieste in October, we will now get aboard in Ravenna, Italy. There were plenty of options to get to Trieste from Venice, but Ravenna has been a bit of a challenge. We are arriving two days early into Venice and staying in the City. We need some Cruise Critic people's ideas on the best way to get from Venice to Ravenna . I have seen that there are no local busses scheduled for that day yet. Scheduling a private transfer for 8 people with bags has shown to be quite expensive. Most prices for a large van has been anywhe ..read more

Looking at a 7–10-night Italy & Croatia (and/or Greece) itinerary starting in Venice and ending in Rome in Fall 2025. Could use some advice with the itinerary and cruise line. Couple in our late 50s/early 60s. We’ve never been to Europe. We are flying from NYC to Budapest to visit with family first then traveling to Venice (a nearby port is fine). We thought we’d start in Venice and end in Rome and spend a few nights in Rome before flying home. Ideally, we wanted the Venice-Croatia-Greece-Rome itinerary, but options were limited in Fall 2025. I have a hold on RC Oct 27th, outside room with ..read more

Dear Experienced Cruisers
I am going on a 7-night Western Mediterranean cruise in May: departing from Rome on the 9th, then Naples, after that heading to Barcelona and Palma de Mallorca and back to Italy for La Spezia and Rome. We will be having two sea days. Can anyone advise me as to the weather when at sea? What should we expect? I've tried to search the internet, but google only gave me pages with weather in coastal towns and cities. I'm aware that this much ahead of time there will be no forecast, I'm counting rather on some statistics from previous years.
Thank you so much ..read more
