Hiya. I have 2 long and darks. Name of whiskey and tango. I was curious if anyone here feeds or supplements with whey liquid (I just got into cheese making). My little nerds are 11 and 5, they have never had any digestive issues that weren't due to a temporary illness. I can obviously omit this easily, but I was curious if anyone has used or supplemented whey for their dobermans. Here is a picture for being kind enough to read my post ..read more

I have a 6-month-old female Doberman. I have noticed some on and off symptoms and want to believe it may be food related and wanted to see if anyone has had the same experience and has recommendations. On/off symptoms: Dry flakey skin, some itching, constant eye boogers, & sometimes loose stool. And I think starting to dislike the kibble I have been feeding her. A few months back she had terrible diarrhea one night/morning in her crate... I took her to the vet, and they said she looked to... 6 Month Female Doberman - Feeding & Loose Stool/Allergies ..read more

Hello everyone! We are picking up our first Doberman next Sunday. He will be 7 weeks, and is currently eating Blue Buffalo Life Protection Puppy kibble. I have long been interested in the raw diet approach, which has been bolstered by a coworker with a stunning 18 month old male fed exclusively raw. I would like opinions, guidance, "recipes" or direction as to how to go about transitioning my pup to raw food. At what age is it best to do this? I noticed mail order companies like Ollie... Hello, Those of you with dogs allergic to everything under the sun, have you come across a dry kibble food that has NO PEAS OR LEGUMES, BEEF, CHICKEN, CHICKEN FAT, LAMB, EGGS, PORK. We have tried a LOT of foods before so here is a list(mostly fish based formulas): PPP salmon sensitive stomach, Wellness, Merrick, Stella & Chewy, Annamaet, Halo, Costco brand/Diamond, Pedigree, Acana, Royal Canin, Zignature, Canadian Pulsar Horizon. All good foods, just didn’t work in our case. We also went... Looking for a new kibble food, Allergies galore ..read more

So we feed our intact male Doberman, 3 years old, a high energy 24% Protein and 20% Fat dog food. We have tried the cheap to the expensive dog food and can never get him to gain weight. You can see his ribs and spine, even though he eats up to 8 cups a day. Do you think he’s just eating too much that’s causing him to not gain weight? We’ve had him for 2 years and we have never quite figured it out for him. Our female Doberman eats 4 cups a day and stays at a healthy weight with just the... Still skinny ..read more

Hi everyone, My boy is about to be two so I’ll be weaning him off of the food he’s currently on which is good for pups up to two years of age (https://www.amazon.com/Purina-Pro-Plan-Chicken-Formula/dp/B002OY0Q9K). With all of the options on the market and so many fad diets that have the potential to be dangerous, I’m struggling finding a replacement. He has picky phases but right now seems to like the kibble he eats just fine. I’ve done some looking into food options and know to... Best kibble brand on the market ..read more

My online searches are coming up a tad empty(or I’m using wrong key words). Your opinions and info appreciated. I spoke to a local butcher shop(small mom/pop type shop) and apparently they have their own butcher who goes out to customers homes on the weekend to butcher cows, sheep, goats, etc. I spoke to him and he was more than happy to provide a WHOLE cow stomach, a spleen, cheek/tongue cut, 4 legs, and eyeballs. I now have a dedicate dog freezer full of goodies and my neighbors probably... Raw feeing organs question and safety procedures ..read more

I have a 5-year-old spayed female, Cody. She was almost 4 when she came to me as a rescue. She came from Europe as a pup and was abused and starved. Her rescuer got her at 2, weighing 36 lb. In spite of all this, she is the most loving, loyal and trustworthy dog imaginable. However, she has an obsession with food and any other substance she deems edible (you don't want to know!) Big counter surfer at first, now she'll still try to sneak into the kitchen for a snack. If anything is left out... Overly obsessed with eating ..read more

PPP SSS Alternatives??

Hi all! My 2.5 yr old has been on PPP sensitive skin & stomach his whole life but I’m looking for an alternative kibble that is completely free of 1) chicken protein or fat (allergen) and 2) legumes as a top 5 ingredient (linked to DCM). He dislikes this kibble and has never enjoyed eating it. Plus I’m not impressed with his coat and skin health on PPP either. I like using meals for training so I need the kibble to taste good. I was mixing cooked ground beef mix from the butcher, but I... PPP SSS Alternatives ..read more
