Autumn at Pembroke

One of the things I’ve learnt during my years as a photographer, is that what I enjoy most about photographing weddings is the variety they offer in terms of location, people, traditions, and the time of year couples choose to get married. Don’t get me wrong, the traditional English summer wedding is of course a lot of fun to be a part of, but when a couple comes all the way from the Philippines to get married at Pembroke Lodge, because they love the autumn colour, then it’s so inspiring as a photographer. The love and positive energy that exists between family and friends at this particu ..read more

St. Peter’s Italian Church Wedding Clerkenwell

This St. Peter’s Italian Church Wedding Clerkenwell was one of my favourite weddings of summer 2023. St. Peter’s Church in Clerkenwell, represents the biggest Catholic Italian community in London. Opened in 1863, it was at the time, the only church in Britain designed in the Roman basilican style. The Irish architect John Miller Bryson worked from plans drawn by Francesco Gualandi of Bologna, modelled on the Basilica of San Crisogno in Rome. It has a tranquil feel and one could spend hours there, soaking up the prayerful atmosphere and admiring the stunning painted ceilings and artwork.   ..read more

Getting Married at RHS Garden Wisley

What an epic day, being there to witness Suzi and Patrick getting married at RHS Garden Wisley. For me the day began with some pictures of Suzi and the girls getting ready and having their hair and makeup done by the brilliant Amanda Durkin, before we made our way to Weybridge Register Office for an intimate legal ceremony with just the couple and the closest family and friends. Weybridge Register Office holds a special place in my heart, as it was where I photographed my sister getting married over ten years ago. Fast forward to Suzi and Patricks big day, and the sense of excitement was ..read more

Summer at Loseley

Another from the recent archives. This time a beautiful wedding from last summer, at the always splendid and very photogenic, Loseley Park in Guildford. Loseley is in fact the closest venue I have to home. This magnificent country house, used as a filming location for many TV and film dramas, is just a stones throw from my slightly more modest home, and is also a regular stop off point on my bike rides trough the Surrey countryside. Suzanne & John had a wonderfully relaxed and fun day surrounded by friends and family of all generations, and their children who were an integral part of the d ..read more

Emma & James at Farnham Castle

Today, I thought I’d jump back in time, to one of my favourite weddings of 2021. I’d met up with Emma and James in Richmond Park for their engagement shoot a few weeks before, and so it was so nice to meet up with them again when the big day finally came around. Although my style of wedding photography is all about capturing the moment, ably assisted on this occasion by my good friend and photographer Az, in a funny way I find doing an engagement shoot to be a really useful exercise in getting to know my couples. I also find that it helps them to relax and enjoy the wedding day, and feel less ..read more

DIY English Garden Wedding
Married to My Camera Blog

Emily and Lewis, along with family and friends, took the idea of doing a DIY English garden wedding to a whole new level! For reasons that will become clear below, this was one wedding that I’d been looking forward to for a long time! For the outset it was clear that both bride and groom were incredibly creative, and would be creating a very personal wedding day with contributions from those nearest and dearest to them. Most fundamentally of all, Emily chose to get ready at home, just a minute or two from their local church, and would be returning home to her parents’ garden, where a stretch t ..read more

London Black Tie Wedding

I love photographing weddings in the capital, and this London black tie wedding, at Pembroke Lodge was one of my favourites of last year. Pembroke Lodge is situated in the heart of Richmond Park, one of the incredible Royal Parks of London so popular with nature lovers and cyclists alike. As a wedding venue, what attracts couples to Pembroke, where I’m delighted to be a recommended photographer, is that it’s rural setting boasts stunning panoramic views of London, while also feeling as though you’re out in the countryside. Driving though the park you and your guests will be able to spot dear r ..read more

Favourite Frames – “Layering”
Married to My Camera Blog

No, not a new style of wedding dress with floaty layers of chiffon, or a cake with layer upon layer of fruit and sponge! “Layering”, in photography terms at least, refers to a compositional device, used to balance multiple elements within the frame.  Photographers will use all manner of compositional tricks and techniques to create eye-catching and impactful images, and rules are of course there to be broken, but as a documentary photographer, who’s interested in telling the story of the wedding day, layering foreground and background is a particularly good technique in order to have mult ..read more

Same Sex Village Hall Wedding In Surrey

I’m really thrilled to be blogging this same sex village hall wedding in Surrey that I shot earlier this summer. I talk a lot on here, and on my Instagram posts, about my reportage approach to story telling on the wedding day, and I hope that what you’ll see in the pictures that follow from Sarah and Olivia’s same sex village hall wedding in Surrey is a how I use sequencing of images, composition, and timing to capture images that capture not just the obvious moments, but the unconventional and quirky events of the day.     Same Sex Village Hall Wedding In Surrey I photograph in all ..read more
