I help run a YouTube channel out of Los Angeles and we are looking to rent a large Bear trap for a video shoot. Filming would take 15-30 minutes and we are willing to pay cash for your time and help. To provide more context, we have a dummy ballistic human leg and we want to place it inside of a bear trap to see what would happen. Ideally someone in this community has a 12-16inch jaw width trap and is located in Southern California. We are willing to drive to you and film at your location or pick up the trap and return it later the same day. My DMs are always open if this sounds interesting t ..read more

Dispatching a glue trapped rodent

Not sure if this is the right subreddit for this question but anyway, rat got caught in a glue trap and if I tossed it out it would just find it's way back in so I decided to kill it quickly by placing a broom handle on the back of its neck and and leaning on it. The tail and leg twitched once or twice and then it stopped moving shortly and started bleeding profusely from the nose. Thing is, I put my hand on it's back and i could still feel a heart beat and I'm not sure if I killed it properly. Did I do it correctly or did I just leave it paralyzed? submitted by /u/cotton_03 [visit reddit ..read more

I caught a badger down in south Texas earlier this month and I would like to tan it. A friend said the hair would fall out as it’s not a winter coat anymore. Does anyone have any experience with badger fur and if it will fall out if I tan it? For reference it was early April so low 80s in the middle of the day and mid 60s at night, I put the whole badger not pelted out in the freezer sealed up in a bag. submitted by /u/Houstus [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Haven't been able to trap for a couple years due to an injury but finally got back out this weekend and got 55 pounder. Got about 25 lbs of meat and the cats are eating good lol. I was wondering what everyone uses for anchors in soft sand. I run an mb750 on a drowning cable. I use a fence post in the water and 2 18" rebar steaks on the shore cris crossed. This beaver pulled all the steaks out and was sitting on the bank. I've never had problems in the winter with this set up with the ground frozen but I've never trapped in warm weather. It's 80 here today. I was thinking of making some po ..read more

So I put out 4 traps this week and hadn’t caught anything. I had 2 set right in front of the hole in the fence that they went through when they got my chickens, and I accidentally caught our house cat, so I moved the traps away from the house and did bait hole traps and the night after I moved them this thing came back and got my last chicken. It’s like it knew when the traps were there and when they weren’t and just waited. What the beach is going on? submitted by /u/noblesavage01 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Dispatching foxes

What's is the most humane method for dispatching foxes when using a rifle is not an option? From my research most people suggest a solid hit across the muzzle, and then stepping on the chest to crush the lungs and heart. The other way I have read about is again a solid hit across the muzzle and then with the fox laying belly down, you lay a pole across the back of the neck stand on either end and lift the back legs to severe the spine. Similar to that of a rabbit. For context I am in Australia, I will be trapping these foxes in a suburban environment so shooting a rifle is out of the question ..read more
