I don’t seem to be able to show the LINZ Parcel Boundaries on the App anymore. I can look at them on the website. Has something been changed? Thanks, Tony

I have asked for it before but it would really be handy to have a ruler on the map. Something like google map provides to measure distances between traps. What would also be nice is a tool that creates a square of one hectare around a trap if I point that tool onto a trap. Or maybe a circle roughly equal to a hectare.
That way I can easily measure how many possums might remain in a certain area using averages from other projects. Like the Banks Peninsula project which estimates possums to be in a range of 20 to 25 per hectare.
Thank you.

It would be great to have a new member category called ‘Observer’. I find that a lot of trapping projects are very reluctant to share data and membership. It should not be. All data should be open and accessible to anybody. Such as trap numbers, trap types, lures, catches, spacings etc. It would help everbody. With a category of ‘Observer’ this could be achieved. No data is changeable to such a member. It can only be seen. Some might look at it out of curiosity, others might use it as a tool to set up a new project. All data on trap.nz should be open access and available.

Website:
On project list page your role will now be listed as ‘Pending’ if you have not yet been approved to access a project.
The trap record, bait station record, and monitoring station record importers will now allow you to specify an installation type to help narrow down what station your records belong to. This is to assist in situations where installation renames are reused across a line and project.
Monitoring Record importer - fixed bug in which sometimes the wrong bait type lure would be selected based on a partial text match. This importer now behaves like the Trap and Bait station ..read more

Kia ora,
Not a Trap NZ question - rather a DNR Garmin query - throwing it out there for any Garmin GPS/GIS/DNR Garmin guru out there.
Have a bunch of old waypoints on the Garmin that I would like to import via .csv. However, I plug in the GPS, open DNR Garmin, hit ‘download’ in the Waypoints menu - and nothing populates. I’ve let it sit there for some time in case there’s so much data that it needs time, but to no avail.
Wondering if anyone else using DNR Garmin and Garmin GPSMAP 64S have had a similar issue, and was there a fix? I don’t think it’s a cable issue because I can see the waypoints ..read more

I’m getting the “no new nodes” error noted in this topic:
Currently unable to upload traps from a .CSV file? Issues and bugs
The “csv” [image]
Opening a new thread to get more attention on it.
Would also like to note Excel auto corrects the date to %d/%m/%y (which is why I’m posting the notepad screenshot to prove the format is correct.)

Linked the second image since the forum doesn’t let me embed multiple.

Hi All,
Function to select species to show in hex map, rather than the default ones now. Add Hedgehog, mouse specifically, and also option to select others, even if catches are not in the top 5 recorded.
As a small village project, we would like to be able to tailor the hex species. Even though stoat and weasel catches are very low in our little project they are a big deal when caught, so good to have the option to pick them to show.

Traps randomly disappear while using the app. Sometimes the screen is completely black & unable to do anything, most of the time all detail is present except the traps. This is mostly happening in an area with limited mobile coverage, but also happens on other lines with good coverage from time to time. Sometimes resolved by switching to another project & coming back to the current one, or by closing the app & opening again. Problem seems to be on both Apple & Android phones. It’s making it difficult to enter results while the line is being checked, with the result of volunteer ..read more

Web:
Performance improvements to many parts of the website including:
Significant speed improvements to the Trap date last checked with map Report
Bait station date last checked with map and Monitoring station date last checked with map now roughly twice as fast.
Project overview pages will now load significantly faster on first load after not been viewed in a while. Note: we’ve increased the time in which Project stats (kill counts, trap counts etc) are cached for on the Project Overview page map. These can now take up to 5-6 hours to refresh. These numbers can still be found in real time o ..read more
