Want to attach Duke Dog Proof raccoon trap to the eye of a ground anchor made of 1/2" diameter rod. Thinking of using a carabiner that will accept the 1/2" round rod at the eye and be thin enough to hook on to the loop of the DP trap at the end of the chain.
I'm sure there are better ways but I want to stick with the ground anchors.

I find this interesting as I am hearing that several islands in southwest Alaska either have grizzly or black bears but only one or the other. Some islands have only black bears and some only grizzly bears. Maybe that means you could fish for salmon on prince of whales island and not see any griz around but I am not sure how good the fishing is there

Yes, "As many as you can afford." What's the minimum you consider adequate for you?
This can include fish traps and tackle like yo-yos, crab traps, and trot lines.

I'd appreciate the input of anyone that lives in these states, or has hunted there recently.
I've been considering a move out to one of the above named states. There's lots of factors to consider, but I wanted to get some info on places to hunt in each of these places.
Is there much in the way of public land to hunt? And if so do people do okay filling their tags on it? Or is it mostly hunting on private land with permission?
I'm thinking mainly deer and black bear where present. But I'm...
