We are planning a long driving trip to Alaska this summer. My Dad worked on the Alcan Highway prior to enlisting for WW2. At any rate, seems like "those in the know" recommend that we get some tall fishermen waterproof boots. Not sure if I agree, but if I change my mind, what boot brand and model would you recommend. I trust the recommendations of this group, Thanks ..read more

Guy Transforms His Chevy Truck Into A Shark Car
Mar 27, 2024 — 2 min read
Something seems a little fishy about this one… There are land yachts and then there’s this Chevy truck transformed into a shark car. It looks kind of like those toys little kids play with, only it’s life-size and you can roll around town in it while people stare and literally get into crashes. It’s not everyday you...

I’m looking to order spare rubber for a slingshot. I’m under the impression that flat bands are better. What thickness do I want? I’ve seen thicknesses range from 0.8MM to 2.0MM ..read more

Never killed anything big with a spear, but have taken a few medium/smaller animals with them. I plan on crossing the 'bama border next year or the following to give this little trick a try on some real game.
My YouTube feed is always clogged up with all sorts of hunting/survival content and a while a video by Tim Wells popped up showing a new spear design he's been hunting with called the "sparrow".
For whatever reason the design just kind of clicked in my head and I decided to play with...

Has anyone been successful in running coyotes off their property using non-lethal means? I want to try this before killing them. Thinking of going after them with a BB gun to see if they get the hint. This works well with bears. Also thought of shotgun rubber bullets, but I don’t want to spend that much money on a coyote. If the BB gun doesn’t work, I have other lethal options. Anything else other than BB’s? They have to go one way or another ..read more

OK.. So the species has been brought up kind of lumped in with coyote and such.. But in my experience with them it is a whole different animal to deal with, despite being a canid..
I have lived in the far north in the wolfs native range of habitat and a couple different habitats where ...bunny hugger.. types have got them reintroduced.. You kind of get a feeling where I'm going with some of my feelings on this...
In the far north I was in an area where the wolf had just about...

Now that I'm back by Lake Superior, it will soon be bear season...
Tags are alotted by a draw system per region.. You can hunt over bait.. Of course there are a lot of rules about baiting.. However hunting over bait and with dogs is the best thing that can happen to bears for a lot of reasons.. Don't get me started on that part of the science and biology.... Also I'm sure it has happened, but I never heard of anyone, or very few people harvesting a ...sour... bear... That is one...
