It’s hard to come down from the emotional high of an author signing event. Especially, when that event is held in a historic area and there is so much to see and do before I had to fly my broom back to Seattle.
TL;DR: The author signing event was fabulous. (Now you can scroll down to the freebies lol)
Day 1:
My youngest and I took a ten minute train, a six hour flight, an hour bus ride, and a fifteen minute Lyft for a real life Planes, Trains, and Automobiles. The kid is a world class traveler and rolled with the punches. It was a fun journey and no mishaps to worry ab ..read more

Something Borrowed Something Bewitched
A Supernatural Legacies Short by T.J. Deschamps
Three men gathered at the edge of the woods, to test their magical mettle. The first, wore a chainmail hauberk and a sword on his back. He was taller, burlier, and spat a lot more than the others. His face told a tale of a life of violence. Some brawls he might have even won.
The second wore a long gray robe with a cowl neck. A length of rope, resembling what was used for sailboat rigging, cinched the waist of the robe. On his head sat a pointy hat with a drooping point. He stroked his str ..read more

Mistakes were made.
I’ve seen so many of these baking sheet tartlets that I was fully confident I could make one with no recipe. This is how I go into any new endeavor. Headfirst, full of confidence from past experiences of doing other things well, and directly plant my face into a wall.
Do I think I’m a failure as a novice baker because these tartlets didn’t come out as expected? Not at all. Although they were ugly, the phyllo dough a bit too dry, and the apples were cut too thin, they were edible. Also, I learned what I did wrong. I mistakenly believed ..read more

A Midlife Supernaturals Short by T.J. Deschamps
Author’s Note: This is a short story from the Midlife Supernaturals verse and a meetcute for one of my favorite couples in the series. It is from Princess’s perspective and will give you insight into why she is not so keen on Miriam in the Eastside Hedge Witch. However, you needn’t have read any of my books to enjoy the story.
The mood in the kitchen sucked.
When you were in a pack, your alpha’s wellbeing mattered most. We all felt him when he didn’t shield. Gloom and grief suffocated the air with the ang ..read more

Excerpt from Westside Harpy:
The flames doused until only a very pissed off Hermes
in full, golden armor, wings spread, and a sword
covered in gore remained.
My heart fluttered a bit at the site of the god. He was
always so subdued in my old Victorian, dressing in
sweats and t-shirts or tracksuits like a regular person.
Right now, Hermes was in full Olympian mode.
He took in the scene until his dark gaze landed on
me. Whatever he saw, propelled him to me faster than
my eyes could track. I
hadn’t even seen when or where he put away his sh ..read more

Excerpt from Westside Oracle:
“We live in uncertain times. Human belief is shifting. What was the norm for many millennia in your world is no longer so. There’s a revival of the Greco-Roman gods, especially in the Americas where belief is, how do you say, up for grabs.”
She smiled at her dog and scratched his ears.
“My father once held great power. However, before the Olympians were the Titans. He fears humans worshipping those primordial gods.” The smile faded. Her big brown eyes glistened, and her voice quavered as she added, “Since the only door to Tartarus is in my home, so do I.”

The Academy has spoken. How about you?
In 2020, when I wrote Eastside Hedge Witch, I wasn’t looking to write an action hero. Fighting wasn’t really Miriam’s thing until it was absolutely necessary. Then, she used her magic, not fighting skills to defeat her enemy.
However, Lydia’s story is quite different. She’s not on journey of rediscovery of her powers. Her powers have been thrown at her and the political intrigues that go with her abilities.
In Westside Oracle, she was tossed about by Gods and Titans. In Westside Harpy, Lydia stops letting others dictate her life and star ..read more

Research for Westside Oracle book #1 in the Midlife Olympians series started in Greece and ended in the Olympic Mountains of Washington.
Seeing the places, meeting the people, and immersing myself in the culture of where myths come from is an important part of research for me. Had I thought I was going to write a series when I planned my trip to Greece? That’s between me and my accountant. However, my experience there was the kind of research that you simply can’t get from books alone. Standing where the ancient pilgrims came to hear from the oracle was an experience I’ll not soon forget.

The library from my childhood home town.
Greetings book loving friend!
My earliest memories are of a little library in my small Pennsylvanian home town. (It’s the converted church pictured above.) The local library had cool architecture, yes, so I loved spending time there.
However, I soon discovered the library itself wasn’t the best part. A building is a building, after all. No matter what they look like, libraries serve as a window to the world. I could witness any place or any time, real or imaginary, and it didn’t cost a thing but my time.
If it weren’t for my love ..read more
