Anybody have any advice on the best method to clean out a rusty tank that can’t be removed from the bike? It’s was built and molded in the 70s so I’m doing everything possible to keep it original. Not to mention the tank has a sick Frazetta paint job I don’t want to ruin. I’ve cleaned a few tanks in my day and read plenty of forums but there not much advice when it comes to a tank that is molded into the frame. Just finished up a 95 sporty 1200 chopper with a buddy. It’s running and riding, and most importantly, looks sick as hell. However, something is off with the carb. First, I’m running a CV carb with a mini bread box air cleaner. VOES is intact, grounded, and plugged up to my gremlin wiring sportster treatment harness. There’s an audible “sucking” sound coming from around the carb. Yes, I know carbs suck air. Yes, I know my Trident mini breadbox air cleaner is going to sound different than a stock sporty air cleaner. It just seems too loud, if that makes sense.
