Anvis 9 Update

This is a follow up to the last post. To recap, I snagged an Anvis-9 from Nocturnality Gear on Instagram a few weeks ago. The review video is up on You Tube. The wifey dropped it and the shelf (bridge that the monoculars attach to) cracked in half. It happened while she was quickly putting them on to look through them. We'd been swapping goggles to compare them (Sentinel, dual PVS-14s, and Anvis-9) and she thought she'd pressed the release button on the mount to deploy the -9s down from being stowed, pulled them down & they popped out of the mount. Because we were swapping goggles, I didn ..read more

If you are interested in the KVC Universal Bridge, check out the latest video, and I hope it helps you out. If it's really awesome bridge that comes with a premium price tag and because of that it's not for everyone. White vs Green Phosphor
Nitewalker

Last month I made an updated comparison video using old footage of L3Harris unfilmed white phosphor, Photonis Echo Plus white phosohor, and Elbit Systems of America (ESA or Elbit) thin filmed Green Phosphor. I forgot to add it to the blog so here it is in case you missed it on You Tube. I've been asked by many people to make a comparison between L3Harris unfilmed white phosphor and Elbit thin filmed white phosphor. I'm working on making this happen but I don't have a time frame at this point mainly due to Covid-19. I pray for everyone's safety and that this ends soon. Ya'll be safe out there ..read more

Anonymous online advice

I decided to make this post because I've received and seen online a lot of requests for advice on which devices and products to purchase. This is of particular importance because 9 out of 10 times you don't know who's giving it to you. Exercise critical thinking because advice even from multiple sources can sometimes be questionable whether intentional or not. There are two main things to watch out for: #1. Hive mind behavior Most of us think of ourselves as individuals but when we become part of a group we can quickly change. Behavior, ideas, and beliefs can spread like a virus which can lea ..read more

Which goggle is better - fixed or articulating?
Nitewalker
by Nitewalker

This question comes up a lot and I've been asked more times than I can remember which type of goggle is better. We've owned both with most of our time with articulating goggles, about 3 years, compared to a little more than 5 months with fixed goggles as of this post. The articulating goggle we had is the NVD-BNVD-SG (Night Vision Devices Binocular Night Vision Device, Single Gain Control) and the fixed goggles are the Adams Industries Sentinel and Anvis-9 aviator goggle. There are other articulating goggles besides the BNVD-SG, such as the ACTinBlack DTNVG, FLIR BNVD 51/40, PVS-15, and PVS-3 ..read more

Know what tubes you are buying!
Nitewalker

There are two main types of image tubes that are used in binocular and monocular night vision devices - MX10160 and MX11769. The PVS-7 requires a specific tube (MX10130) that is not compatible for use in the majority of systems so I will be ignoring it. It is important to know which tube you are being quoted or sold because some sellers are substituting 11769's in place of 10160's and not making that clear. People are buying night vision more than ever before and I've communicated with a good number of guys who didn't know there are two different tube types or which ones they bought. The point ..read more

The best night vision for "Preppers"
Nitewalker
by Nitewalker

Someone asked me the question, "if I can only have one set of night vision goggles for preparedness what should it be?". I didn't hesitate to answer dual PVS-14s with good gen 3 image tubes and a quick release dual mount. I gave him my reasons and afterwards I thought this definitely deserves it's own post. Btw, I hate the word prepper, and use preparedness instead. I'll be getting into hypothetical worst case scenarios where you would be fully lights out. Possibly a total blackout happened or you killed all of the surrounding lights to remain blacked out in order to take full advantage of ha ..read more

Night Vision Specifications (2021 UPDATE)

**UPDATED 3/16/2021** Specs, specs, specs, specs, specs. A lot of people toss that word around. I'm guilty. It's already confusing enough if you're looking for your first device or just bought one and now you have to figure out specs!? Your head is probably already spinning with all the night vision lingo, housings, mounts, shrouds, helmets, accessories, etc. I know I was confused! I've been asked many times what the specifications (specs) mean, what good ones are, and decided that something needs to be up on the site. So here ya go! First off, this post is in regards to US made gen 3 image t ..read more
