So not being a mechanic I'm guessing I need a clutch replacement. (Told you I got her cheap) this isn't unforeseen. My manual 2.8mu likes to pop out of 1st and 2nd (especially under engine breaking, down a steep gradient). From neutral she don't like going into either of the same two. And in neutral it's best to whack on the handbrake, as she's still partially in gear it seems and likes to keep crawling forwards.  I'm only partially spastic, and do my own oil changes, can drain a carby, adjust a mc chain, the basics.
