David Cairol, currently on tour in Japan, is an esteemed performer in the reggae scene. He is currently under consideration for a Grammy nomination and was introduced as the lead singer to the Bob Marley tracks project by Judy Mowatt, the backing vocalist of Bob Marley. He has already recorded 30 songs including live unreleased versions and unfinished songs from the legend.
How did he end up here? Like many of us as we grow, David’s life is forged by accidental moments, the people around him, and manifested into a reality through the courage to take a risk and follow through.

For the second year in a row, MTM is kicking off the summer at Surfers Zushi! This incredible location with a huge deck was created with surfers in mind -- it’s got 180° ocean views, great food and drinks, and even a private beach. The deck has a dance floor and a large area filled with tables to eat and chat.
Their stretch of coast boasts one of the few actual waves in the area and you can rent a board right there at surfers. It is without a doubt one of the best places to escape the summer heat for a moment and relax.
What better place to bring your friends, make some new ones and listen t ..read more

The stressors of the weekday grind can leave us ravenously hungry for the weekend-sharing quality time with those close to us, a delicious thought.
Recently, one event that I have been craving to be a part of is the MTM Sunday Diners. The people who join these events and the atmosphere created makes for a community that I look forward to being a part of.
Something I hunger for during the week.
My appetite was satiated at the most recent Sunday dinner, Filipino Night.
It was a proper three course meal of an experience. Let me tell you about what MTM cooked up as an appetizer, main dish ..read more

It’s hard to imagine that tucked away in a small cozy corner of Shinjuku’s Kagurazaka, a budding group of music enthusiasts and musicians has been making waves in Tokyo’s underground electronic music scene. Kagurazaka, affectionately coined as Shinjuku’s French Quarter, is renowned for its decadent dining, melt-in-your-mouth croissants, and lively izakaya's. However, even the most unsuspecting places have a knack for surprising the most avid music enthusiasts.
Now imagine being instantly transported to a clear day in May, when Japan’s dreaded rainy season isn’t yet on your mind. Your f ..read more

Hatchobori is an unassuming neighborhood in eastern Tokyo speckled with a surprising number of trendy food and beverage spots like Craft Beer & Whiskey Bar Hatchobori Garden. The streets were chilly and still but the windows of the bar glowed and a cluster of people stood outside chatting and greeting newcomers. I approached like a moth to a flame and was soon engulfed by warm guitar music, the audience swaying along. A friendly face pulled up a seat for me around a whiskey cask repurposed as a table. With my spot secured, I meandered over to the bar to investigate my drink options.  ..read more

Daydreams of lazy weekends at the beach with feet buried in the sand, bites of salty watermelon, and tangerine sunsets are typically tucked away for those rainy day moments when better weather is on the mind. That is, unless someone or something unleashes them. It’s like Pandora’s box, except the only bad thing that happens is the personal desire to pack up everything and go to a body of water as soon as possible. Part of heading to the beach is the journey, and whether it’s by train, bicycle, or in the back of a sporty red convertible, music always will accompany the journey.  ..read more

As most of you know, Robert Taira Wilson is one of More than Music’s favorite headliners and his most recent slew of singles is causing all sorts of a ruckus among his fans, don’t worry, it’s a positive sort of uproar.
With songs like Blackbird and Morning Light, it’s impossible not to momentarily slip back into my teenage guise, even if for just a few minutes, and swoon over mesmerizing medley and lyrics that have the potential to make your heart break into a million tiny pieces. Robert’s music and lyrical tone speak to me on a very raw and nostalgic level. Mostly because I was ..read more

If you wanted, you could search right now and find thousands of articles online arguing which is better, live shows or recorded audio. Suffice to say, if you’ve found your way to this particular piece of writing, you’re more than likely to stand with us, the avid concertgoers who will argue that live shows are indeed superior. Don’t worry, I’m not adding to the large number of listicles that sway you one way or the other, I’ve already come to my conclusion.
Live music is better—the end.
And while I enjoy listening to my daily playlist on Spotify, or queuing my fa ..read more

Remember those horrid informercials that the US produced in the 80s featuring men and women saying things like “I used to pound a 5th of vodka and a bump of coke every night before bed but now I’m ok” and they had trashy god-awful synths and keyboards soundtracking them.
Paranoid Void are kinda like that but good, Really bloody good. A slightly inglorious and unceremonious introduction for a genuinely wonderful band. But here’s the point. Paranoid Void put everything into their art and their art is worth your attention. Especially when they’re likely the most fun and interesting band playing a ..read more
