Why would someone want two dogs?

Why would someone want two dogs? Twice the trouble and effort right? That’s the question I asked the love of my life when she suggested we get a new puppy to add to the 6-month-old we already had. Puppies are mischievous, messy, and a lot of hard work! And two would be double the trouble. Turns out, that’s not true. Mentoring makes all the difference! You see the first puppy quickly teaches the new puppy all the tricks, how to walk on a lead, how to chase the ball, how to sit, stay and come when called and where to pee and what to chew and not chew. So the second puppy has been a breeze be ..read more

You are a leader – You can influence the future – You should! Even in these challenging times, amazing things are happening. With a monumental health crisis that is causing enormous physical, and economic pain for businesses, families, and individuals, people are finding ways to grow, to make progress, to get ahead to be better, to do different things. Lots of people are sitting on their hands, waiting for things to get better, hoping that things will get better. Hope is not a strategy, waiting is a waste of time! Right now the Olympics are taking place in Tokyo and the stories of triumph a ..read more

Coasting to the finish line means you are likely to lose!

Coasting to the finish line means you are likely to lose! I love this time of year! When I was a footy player and conditioner, we worked on finishing strong, at training and in the game. When we would train we would do these terrible sprints called coathangers. 175 meter timed sprints with a 30-second break. Based on how well we trained we had to do anywhere between 3 and 10 of these to finish our training. The catch was, if anyone on the team pulled up short (coasted to the finish) they added 2 more. It was horrendously hard and the new guys quickly learned that no one appreci ..read more

Tiny habits and peak performance  When I first started sending out this weekly email, I wanted it to be a small insight, idea or slices of information that could help you Play a Bigger Game at the end of your week (That’s why I chose Wednesdays to send it out). You’ve got through the intensity of Monday and probably got some stuff done on Tuesday, so Wednesday is a great day to absorb a new concept, give it a try for a few days and build it into your routine for the following week. (I’m keen to know if that’s the way it works for you) With that in mind, this week’s win is about the litt ..read more

Does winning matter?

Does winning matter?  There are those that say “winning isn’t everything” and those that also say “winning is everything” The reality…… Winning and losing are part of life and part of business. If you cannot differentiate between the two, you are going to get stuck in mediocrity, you will not make progress and you and your business won’t grow. Business and life are both games and if you are going to play them well, then you need to learn what winning looks like, you need to understand the frustration of losing and what it takes to change the game and turn your results around. There i ..read more

The ONE Big Change To Leadership In The Last 2 Years! Great leaders (we’re ALL leaders by the way) are going to be in high demand in the next few months. To be a great leader, you need this ONE thing! There has been a big shift in the demands of leadership in the last two years. Leaders that have not changed or evolved to meet this shift in demands will struggle in the future. Some of those demands are flexibility, the ability to deal with remote employees and teams, managing burnout, stress, and anxiety, keeping teams productive yet safe, being able to pivot and embrace change. These are a ..read more

Can you choose not to react?

Can you choose not to react?  How can this improve your leadership and your results? Reaction is the automatic response to something that happens. We get angry, we jump, we strike, we defend, we run, we attack, we feel sad, excited, disappointed and a 1000 other automatic reactions These reactions occur because of 1. Our hard-wired DNA 2. Our past experiences 3. Our present perceptions It’s really hard to change number 1 our DNA We can change 2 and 3 quite easily As leaders and high performers, we need to learn to RESPOND! In order to respond, we need to pause long enough to: 1. Consider ..read more

We are often told there is just ONE key to success, but that’s not true!   I am asked all the time “What’s the one key to your success?” and I find it hard to answer that question. You see if it truly was just one SECRET thing, everyone would be doing it. We all like to hope that success is simple, that there is a shortcut, that we can get there easily and fast. The GOOD news is there are definitely ways to speed the process up (I have put together a short video for you on my process below) The reality is, when I look back, it’s a combination of things.  In my Remarkable Results ..read more

What on earth are reverse incentives?

What on earth are reverse incentives? When we want someone (or maybe even ourselves) to perform better we often encourage them with incentives, rewards, and benefits Unfortunately, they don’t always work (I’m going to share something further down, that does) But first, let’s look at why traditional incentives don’t work? * The reward is not big enough * The reward loses its attractiveness if the goal is hard to achieve * The person is not motivated by rewards * It’s the wrong reward * It’s the wrong goal * The person has enough rewards from other sources How do you change the game? It’s easy ..read more
