Everyone has their favorite way of connecting level line to their rod tip. Many people use a slip knot method but I have always liked how easy and quick a girth hitch loop works much better on my furled lines. Several years ago I saw a diagram in a scanned document from a Keiryu Fishing Magazine that showed a method of creating a loop on your level line for use as a girth hitch connection. Ever since then this has been the way I attach my tenkara level line to my rod tip lillian string to get that same quick and easy connection that I was getting with my furled lines using a girth hitch.  ..read more

Tom Davis has told me about this fly as one of his favorite kebari to use, here is a link to an article on Tom's favorite tenkara flies>>. He uses either red wire or copper wire on his but I like to use Antique Gold Micro Metal from Semperfli. I also changed up the dubbing thorax slightly to some Vicuna Dubbing I like. It is a very productive fly that has been toughly tested by Tom over the years. Enjoy!   Fly tied by Brent Auger of DRAGONtail Tenkara. The Takayam-Sakasa Kebari was developed in the Takayama region of Japan with a forward facing soft hackle, peacock thorax, and simple thread body. You can tie this simple tenkara fly in many different thread or hackle colors but purple is a color I tie it in a lot as it is a color that is easy for fish to see. How to tie a Grave Digger Kebari fly pattern. This is a fantastic tenkara fly created by the guys at Tenkara Guides LLC during the early years of tenkara taking off in the USA. It was one of my early favorite tenkara flies to fish as I was getting into tenkara and is still a fly I love to use, very effective for trout and warm water fish.
