The 2022 Qatar FIFA World Cup is just days away. The tournament officially kicks off when the hosts, Qatar, take on Ecuador Nov. 20. There has certainly been a fair share of criticism ahead of this World Cup surrounding human rights concerns in Qatar. Also, what some have deemed a questionable decision to award Qatar the World considering the tournament must be played in November and December instead of the summer due to heat concerns. However, with this in mind, Canadian soccer fans can’t help but feel a sense of excitement heading into the tournament. This will be the first time since 1986 t ..read more

Image courtesy of Canadian Premier League website. Hamilton-based Forge FC captured their third Canadian Premier League North Star Shield in four seasons with a 2-0 victory over Atletico Ottawa at TD Place on October 30. Forge FC controlled the game from start to finish and was propelled to victory by stunning goals from Alessandro Hojabrpour and David Choiniere. Despite the loss, Ottawa has clearly grown into a soccer city. The atmosphere at TD Place was phenomenal with nearly 15,000 people gathered to support their local club, who were underdogs against Forge FC – winners of two of the past ..read more

Last week Ottawa needed to prove to everyone that the Valour game was just a fluke. After being a couple seconds away from 3 points until another refereeing decision robbed them, ATO is still looking to prove themselves this week, and what a better way to do this than by facing the reigning CPL Champs and current first placed Pacific FC. Here are headlines to watch for this week: We wouldn’t be here without our Mom’s <3 Need some last-minute plans for Mother’s Day? (Don’t worry, we won’t shame you). Look no further than this Saturday’s game. Atlético Ottawa is offering a Buy One Get One Fre ..read more

After getting thrashed 6-1 at home by the hands of Valour FC, Ottawa will look to unite together and go into York and snatch 3 points away from the 9 stripes (Why are they called this, they don’t even have stripes on their home kit). Let’s get into the Headlines to watch for Tomorrow: Chance to right the ship Despite getting embarrassed at home, Ottawa still sits in 2nd place with 6 points. Pacific, who drew 0-0 with Edmonton on Wednesday, are first with 10 points. Pacific also play on Sunday, meaning that Atlético Ottawa will have a game in hand over Pacific after this weekend. Basically, thi ..read more

After earning 3 points in the first week of the season, Atlético Ottawa turns their focus to Halifax Wanderers. Ottawa had a 1-2-3 record against Halifax last season, winning 2-1 in their first-ever game at TD Place and losing 2-1 twice vs HFX. Due to the number of games played against each other last season, both fanbases are very familiar with each other. While I wouldn’t call it a rivalry, I can guarantee that nothing would make the other fanbase happier than defeating their familiar foe. Here are some headlines to watch for tomorrow: Twice Upon a Time Fans are encouraged to don their pyjam ..read more

The day is finally upon us. Saturday, April 9th, Atlético Ottawa kicks off their season at home in front of a surely electric crowd, and standing in the way of 3 points is a familiar foe of Cavalry FC. However, before we can preview this match, it is probably a good idea to get everyone caught up to this point in time. The 2021 CPL season was an utter disaster for the club. Not only did they finish last, but they also set a record for the fewest amount of points in a season. After a season like that, many fans were interested to see what management did in the offseason. Would they stick with t ..read more

Canada has qualified for their first World Cup since 1986. This massive achievement has taken the world by surprise and has given Canada the spark it needs to fully become a soccer nation. However, this couldn’t be any more wrong. Not to be dramatic, but this game could be a huge decider in whether Canada makes it out of the Group Stage at Qatar in November. In the World Cup there are four pots. Each group consists of one country fro ..read more

Canada’s Men’s National Soccer team is one win away from qualifying for their second World Cup in country history and their first appearance since 1986. If Canada beats Costa Rica away from home on March 24, they will clinch a berth in the 2022 Qatar World Cup. That would be a massive accomplishment for a talented Canadian side led by sensational manager John Herdman. However, it will not be easy. Like in the third international qualifying window, when Canada relied on their depth to win all three of their games without Alphonso Davies, they will be without Davies in the fourth international q ..read more
