I have a pair of Gen. 1 SCM 19s. They have the press fit Vifa (?) tweeter with the heat sink on the back. The production date is probably circa 2006. The tweeters have ceased to function. Hello everyone. Can anyone recommend speaker cable that works well with my 40's. I currently have a Chord TT2, Teddy Pardo MB100 mono power amps connected by 3m of Tellerium Q Black. I can not find recommendations by ATC regarding cable characteristics (impedance/capacitance) or preferred manufacturers. I would be very grateful for any thoughts on this issue. Hi all, i use a pair of 40a’s with which i am very happy with. However, today i noticed hissing from the tweeter, now you have to get very close to hear it and it was still there (but at a lower level) when i disconnected the the xlr cable. FYI I see that ATC is listed as being represented at Audio Show East 2003 later this month in Ipswich (April 28-29). At the last show in 2018 there was an ATC room with SCM100A classics fronted by a CDA2 Mk2 and a very classy (looking and sounding) vinyl system whose components I knew at the time but cannot recall now. There were other non-playing exhibits. Ben Lilly was there with at least one other ATC colleague. I briefly talked to both. In an interview in circa 2009 for avmentor.gr Robert Polley of ATC distinguished between using their loudspeakers in the studio versus using them at home and made the above comment. He added "... that's because half the discs are of poor quality." I wonder if people agree or not. It may be due to my particular taste in music but I personally don't perceive half of my discs like that. Although with some older recordings I do get to hear things that I would not expect to hear from a modern recording. Even then I don't find it spoils good music for me in any meaningful way. I stumbled across an interview with Brad Lunde (TransAudio, USA), probably from some time in 2021 which illustrates what ATC is about. It's quite long but I found it fascinating (YMMV of course). He speaks very coherently. The following points are some paraphrased take-aways: TransAudio is a distributor – an extension of the factory and factory support in USA. ATC is science-based – not interested in spending R&D money on marketing-driven development. Ben Lilly does work on sales but is really in engineering with Richard Newman. Hi All, I have a question, does anybody use a CDA 2 MK2 with jRiver using the USB input ? I have a few DSD files but mainly Flac files mostly ripped from CD plus some Hi Res files all stored on my Qnap Nas, when I use my Microsoft Surface Laptop connected to the ATC usb using jRiver most of my files play fine but the DSD files and the 192 24bit Flac files buffer, I have tried the Laptop hardwired and wireless but that makes no difference I do have a very good Wireless Signal, the settings in jRiver are to ATC's specification, just to add my Naim ND XS 2 plays the 192 Flac files fine I have no ..read more
