A little Princess by Frances Hodgson Burnett

I remember reading this book for the first time with my Mum when I was about 5 or 6. It was the same copy she read when she was little and I now read it at least twice a year! A Little Princess is my favourite because I love the main character, Sara. She is a strong and powerful young woman and has an awesome imagination and is very kind, even when she faces hardships. The book is set in the early 1900s and was written by the same woman who wrote The Secret Garden. When I was reading Space Band I couldn’t take my eyes off it. I like music, reading and I find space fascinating so the combination of space and musical band was amazing to read. The book is about a band that got into space and they won a battle against the so called unbeatable alien. They set all the other aliens who got locked up from losing against the unbeatable alien free and they went back to earth. There were lots of other surprises on the way. I would definitely recommend reading it. Your name: Ellie B The post Space Band by Tom Fletcher first appeared on Kids Against Plastic ..read more

Black Beauty is a beautifully heart wrenching novel that clearly highlights the importance of treating all animals kindly, and does so by emotionally connecting with the reader on a tear-jerking journey! Although it is absolutely devastating at times, it is told in a beautiful manner, and depicts one of the most important messages in a way that motivates the reader to be against animal cruelty. Holly, the other main character, is one of my favourites. She’s clever, brave, funny, and kind. The other characters such as Butler, Juliet, Mulch, and Foaly make this an awesome core cast. They’re funny and interesting and play off each other brilliantly. The banter in this book is one of my favourite parts, so if you like witty dialogue, check it out! The characters are fantastic, the universe creative and fun, and the plotlines are really unique and combined with lots of magical creatures. Artemis is a fantastic protagonist. He’s arrogant, brilliant, and conniving, but weirdly likeable in a cool criminal way, even if his actions are technically bad. However, when he kidnaps Captain Holly Short, of the fairy Lower Elements Police Recon division (LEPrecon – get it?), he finds he might have bitten off more than he can chew. The fairies have advanced technology and with Artemis threatening their way of life, they cannot let him get away with this. This book is great fun! I first read this series a few years ago and revisiting it was great. 2 of 4 Artemis fowl Your name: Skye The post Artemis Fowl 2 of 4 first appeared on Kids Against Plastic ..read more

Artemis Fowl, is the first book in the (brilliant) eight book series by Eoin Colfer, it introduces us to twelve-year-old Artemis Fowl the Second, who is a genius and a descendant of a generations-old crime family. He is certain that fairies exist, and, since his father is missing and they are running out of money, sets out to prove it, capture and ransom one for fairy gold. 1 of 3 entries for Artemis fowl review Your name: Skye The post Artemis Fowl 1 of 3 first appeared on Kids Against Plastic ..read more

The Agents of the Wild Series – Book Review

This series written by Jennifer Bell is a humorous series of books covering some serious environmental issues we’ve had. It has really loveable characters who are part of an agency to protect the earth and its animals whilst spreading awareness to the readers at the back and throughout the book. This also has the positive message that anyone can play a part to help, and the main character, Agnes, is only 8 years old. It also has some really nice pictures! I highly recommend this Your name: Emi Bakowska The post The Agents of the Wild Series – Book Review first appeared on Kids Against Plast ..read more
