This thread will help explain the best methods to prepare your new Plasma Display Panels (pdp) for a long life of service. It's common knowledge that a good break-in period should be done to prevent image retention and stabilize your plasma panel. Most video experts and calibrators recommend running your new pdp for a minimum of 150 hours with full motion video content running the TV for 24 hours per day for at least 6 days straight. Many experts say pdps can take up to 1000 hours before... Plasma Break-in: How To Properly Break-in Your New Plasma Display ..read more

TV wont respond to remote

I have a Konka TV in my zone2 system, not sure of the model number but its a 104cm CRT about 8 years old. About a month ago it stopped responding to the remote, changing batteries didn't help. I had the commands programmed into my Harmony 880 but the TV wouldn't respond to that either. The TV only has volume and channel adjustments on the front panel, there is a button on the remote I need to press to view DVDs and XBMC in colour. So basically, without the remote the TV is useless. I have a new LG television and used my Cox Contour 2 remote to turn the TV on and off. No problems. However, when I went to control the Samsung Soundbar, which is about 5 years old, HW-J450, the remote would not pair. I searched several different sites for additional codes but had no luck. I tried 31495, 32660, 31868, 32137, 31304, 32609, 22609, 31949, 21014, 20045. None of the codes would work. Any suggestions for Countour 2 Remote won't Pair with Samsung Sound ..read more

Help with Samsung Q85 Judder Problems??

I'm looking for some help with my fancy new-fangled light emitter: Santa brought a 75" Q85 to my doorstep this year, and.... I absolutely hate it. Like, really badly. The new 4k unit replaced a 1080P samsung of the 55" variety circa 2016 or so and although the picture is MUCH more brilliant on the 4k unit, the motion is absolutely atrocious with gobs of judder/stutter/shaking yada yada. I know that sounds vague, but it's like somebody is shaking the camera at times or like people slow... Help with Samsung Q85 Judder Problems ..read more

Well, this 70" TV works [System #1] when you connect a DVD player to it directly and then send the audio back to the receiver using a Toslink optical cable. For System#1, when I put the DVD player output to the receiver's HDMI input and run a separate cable to the TV and try to send the audio back [HDMI ARC] I get no video but the audio works. Receiver is Yamaha 2080 [9 channel 2019]. System #2: Same receiver as System #1 but it has a 50 inch Samsung TV. This system works great. The... Moving, need a new TV, Money is important but not the end of the world. Looking at QN90a/ or Sony, possibly LG. Do a LOT of streaming, and Kodi. PC games also. Interested in opinions regarding "real world viewing", not the demos you see in Best Buy (they all look great). You tube info/reviews videos are so mixed it's confusing - VA panel, IPS panel? Etc. Tv will be in a well lit living room, and i'm retired so it'll get it's workout. Thanks ..read more

Can TCL TVs access a USB Hard Drive over a wireless adapter?

I've been looking and haven't found an answer to this- Can the TCL TVs access a centrally attached USB drive? Here's why I am asking and want to do- I have multiple TVs throughout the house and would like them all to be able to access the media on my USB HD without the need to plug the drive directly into each TV. I built a media server years ago that I ran through a PS Media server software that could stream to any device with a streaming device. Things have changed and most now use...
