The clash between this match and the events surrounding it was fascinating. On one hand, this was right in the middle of Jushin Liger’s infamous week-long vacation to his old friends at World Championship Wrestling, returning after many years away and immediately losing the IWGP junior heavyweight title to Juventud Guerrera because Vince Russo had taken control of the pencil and insisted that a tequila bottle must be smashed. Show: ROH Dedicated (26 January 2007 – National Guard Armory, Braintree, Massachusetts) A thoroughly dull and pointless tag team match. Maybe there’s some hidden gems that I’ve shoved to the back of my brain but this Delirious/Adam Pearce stuff really was the worst and seemed to last forever. The kind of action I can only justify existing because it made everything else look so much better by comparison.
