The clash between this match and the events surrounding it was fascinating. On one hand, this was right in the middle of Jushin Liger’s infamous week-long vacation to his old friends at World Championship Wrestling, returning after many years away and immediately losing the IWGP junior heavyweight title to Juventud Guerrera because Vince Russo had taken control of the pencil and insisted that a tequila bottle must be smashed. A thoroughly dull and pointless tag team match. Maybe there’s some hidden gems that I’ve shoved to the back of my brain but this Delirious/Adam Pearce stuff really was the worst and seemed to last forever. The kind of action I can only justify existing because it made everything else look so much better by comparison. Show: CHIKARA Tag World Grand Prix 2013: 1st Stage (18 May 2013 – Logan Square Auditorium, Chicago, Illinois)
This was an opening round match in the 2013 CHIKARA Tag World Grand Prix.
The Daywalkers were Matt Cage and Alex Castle, a regular Midwest team known as “Kentucky Buffet” who were rebranded here with dumbass names “Mathias Cage” and “Alexandra Barnabus Castle” (this mf out here calling himself Barnabus), recast as vampire wrestlers and given Gangrel as a manager.
