To put together my top 100 list of the greatest wrestlers ever, I am going through each year and putting together a list for that particular year. Previously, on the podcast “Maybe Not Taue,” I compiled a list for 1985, 1990, 1997, & 2021. You can listen to those here. 1983, 1989, 1992, 1993, 1994, 1995, 1996, 2001, 2004, 2010, 2015, 2019, 2022, and 2023 are on the blog. Notes All of the below stats are from Cagematch. Yes, they are not perfect. The recommended matches are not a definitive list. It’s a list of cool matches I watched for this process or were on my spreadsheet beforehan ..read more

Command Bolshoi: Send in the Clown, Volume 3 “2007 Matches”

One of my new favourite wrestlers I found in my GWE process is Command Bolshoi. She’s one of the all-time great technical wrestlers, a great flyer, a great brawler, and an ace of comedy matches. She has uploaded most of her JWP career to her YouTube channel. Volume 3 will focus on her 2007 work. Check out the previous volumes for more Bolshoi love! Command Bolshoi & HIROKA vs Azumi Hyuga & Marcela “JWP & CMLL Lucha Especial” JWP We are JWP: Return to Fresh Spirits January 27 Some new people in this one for me! After this, I want to see more. A good tag match and this is one where ..read more

Marigold Grand Opening Wars (June 11, 2024) Review

Marigold returned to Korakuen Hall for the second time, and the English commentary returned. What a great opening stretch for Marigold! It really couldn’t have gone better, with new stars appearing, great matches, and new talent getting to prove they belong. The hot crowds really help, and it just feels fresh! This is a cool card with the big singles matches and the last big show before the huge one on July 13th at Sumo Hall. MIRAI vs Komomo Minami Minami is making her debut after training in Stardom, taking a break, and then going to Marigold and training under MIRAI. So this is a real teac ..read more

With this Review, I finish off my 2007 watching and watch some Marigold and an NXT PPV, along with my normal 1997 Joshi watch party! 2007 Let’s try again, this time to plow through the remaining 2007 that I need to watch. Starting with Christian. From TNA Bound for Glory on October 14, it’s Samoa Joe vs Christian Cage. Matt Morgan is a special enforcer is like peak TNA. This match is all about the unstoppable beast Samoa Joe vs the wrestling genius heel Christian Cage. Some of the counters Christian pulls off have to be seen! Joe was no slouch in this. Everything he did looked like it hurt. Mo ..read more

I wanted to focus on 2007 and finish my WOTY list for that year, but my watching motivation has been low in the last few weeks. I only got one match watched for 2007! That starts with Umaga vs Triple H in a Street Fight from WWE Cyber Sunday on October 28. Positive points for keeping it sub 18 minutes, but minus points for both wearing their regular wrestling gear. I really like the opening few minutes of starting on the stage and brawling back to the ring. I also enjoyed Umaga destroying Trips’ ribs all match, and the visual of him running across three tables to squash him was cool. However ..read more

It was oddly the year of “Last Man Standing” matches, with three of them making the list. Overall, though, this was a disappointing year for great matches. Regardless, this list has some gems! A great week of action! I hope to finally finish my 2007 MOTY list next week, so I watched some great matches this week! ***** One match I watched during the pandemic that I was high on, 8.5/10, but is outside the MOTY range, was Bryan Danielson vs. Takeshi Morishima from Manhattan Mayhem II, and I felt I needed to revisit it. Luckily, it’s on their YouTube channel. As it turns out, I was pretty right the first time. The crowd is hot, the action is intense, but it really doesn’t hit me on that elite level. It’s more of these I’m super tough, almost reckless stiff matches that always leave me ..read more
