Immersion program in Syria or Jordan (Lebanon, Palestine?)

Friends, Good evening. Would you like to share information on the best immersion/introductory program in Levantine? I’d like to spend 2 or 3 months at a time, twice per year, in Lebanon or Jordan or Syria (is there presently a school where Americans [like me] could study in Syria?) or northern Palestine. Looking to learn/study in the mornings, and to be online for my clients (as a digital nomad) in the afternoons and evenings. Thanks for your insights!! 1 post - 1 participant Read full topic ..read more

Good evening, everyone. I’m Benjamin. I live in Puerto Rico. I hope to be able to study (again) Levantine Arabic. I studied for 8 weeks, in a Druze village, last year. I wonder about a semi-immersive program in Lebanon or Syria or Palestine. I am a digital nomad, and so I need to find a place with great Internet service. If this message perks up anyone’s ears… please, drop me a line. Peace 1 post - 1 participant Read full topic ..read more

Hello everyone. My name is Janet and I’m from the UK. I want to learn the Levantine dialect as I am very interested in Palestine, and visited East Jerusalem and the West Bank last October with a solidarity choir. Happy to have found this site, and hope to learn a lot in the company of others. I hope you’re all well and enjoying your learning journey. 1 post - 1 participant Read full topic ..read more

Hello everyone. My interest in Arabic started from childhood. I was attracted to people from the Middle East. Growing up I had favor with them and without them knowing me they would call me brother. I have always been fascinated with their writing style, food, and culture. I have dreams of visiting Lebanon. I made friends from Arabia and Afghanistan when I was in the 6 grade. Levantine will be my goal for the long haul. 1 post - 1 participant Read full topic ..read more

New language learner looking for basic tips

Peace and greetings all, I am an American living on the West Coast. It is my dream to one day travel to the Middle East. I have no such plans at this point in my life, but I am interested in preparing for that dream by learning how to speak many different dialects of Arabic. I will likely start with Egyptian, as this site seems to have the greatest number of resources available for that particular dialect. Does anyone have any advice for learning multiple dialects? How about general tips on practicing? I am new to even learning a second language, so any advice would be appreciated. Thank you ..read more

Hi all, my name is Rob and I live in the UK. Arabic is one of those languages that most people never attempt to learn because they say it’s too difficult…unless you are born in the country where it’s spoken that is! I’ve toyed with the idea of learning Arabic many times in my life but I could never commit myself to it until now. The reason I’m doing it now is because my daughter is moving to Egypt this coming summer to work so I’ll be making frequent trips there. Excellent reason to learn Egyptian Arabic I think…certainly have the motivation now to do it now! 1 post - 1 participant Read full ..read more
