One of my shops got broken into, every saw except a 592 and crushed 550 were taken. Bars and chains stolen as well as thousand in climbing ropes, blocks and pulleys. Long story short we 90% know who did it especially since they were wearing company clothing while doing it and started there own "tree company" 2 weeks prior to the event. Police were kinda useless in terms of actually investigating so far ( we found where they went and how they transported the goods out) But long story short, had to pull all serial numbers for the police and notified Stihl who took down all the information, tagg ..read more

I'm not a logger, here's my gear dump as a volunteer org chainsaw instructor

So, as title says, I don't do this for a living. I just grew up in western NY cutting trees for firewood, then a few years ago, joined a vet org that responds to disasters and I primarily deal with tree cleanup. Here's my gear I use as an instructor, teaching people all the way from beginning (bucking and limbing) to advanced, felling and cleaning up messes others have made. It's a fun position and it gets me out there and away from my desk. I don't usually do these, but I had cleaned my pants and am looking at a new wedge pouch, decided to take some pics. If anyone has a suggestion for bette ..read more

New spring?
Reddit » Chainsaw

Chain wasn't stopping when idling so I took the clutch apart to replace the spring. Once the outer spring was taken off it fell apart, back spring is broke. The new spring I got on ebay appears to be the wrong one (even though description said it was for a cs750evl). Finger is pointing to the new spring. Anyone know where I can get new springs or have a part number I can go off of to find one? New saw options!

Good morning everyone. My dad’s trusty Husqvarna 51 is on the way out after many many years and thousands of trees cut. I do plan on rebuilding it for him but we decided an extra saw would probably be good. I’m wondering what is the chainsaw to get now? Professional level with a 16-18 bar is preferable and the main use is clearing land and working on the woodpile. He’s been out of the loop for a while because he’s had no need to look so just looking for the right direction. Thanks! submitted by /u/PrestigiousShoe9084 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Husky 540 mk3 Thoughts

I just picked up a husky 550 (in photo) a month or so back and so impressed with the pro level saws that I’m thinking about busting the bank and getting a 540 mk3 to replace my limbing saw, which has always been my go to inexpensive (but amazingly reliable) ms170. A few questions for the group: are the 540’s a suitable replacement for limbing weight-wise, and are they worth the coat difference in performance? I can buy 3 170’s (whatever the replacement model is now) for the price of a husky 540. I mostly cut softwoods, but a lot of felling/limbing in residential areas - no climbing. I have a ..read more

Ms180 not oiling

Hello this ms180 is not cutting even with a new chain and not oiling the chain at all. All the oil is spilling down out the sides at the sprocket. It had no oil hole originally so I drilled 2 holes in it but it’s still not spitting any oil. Do I need a new bar? submitted by /u/Round_Knowledge_4417 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Jonsered 2137 trouble

Im having trouble with this old saw. It starts up fine but when I adjust the idle screw I cant make the chain spin. When I give it gas it bogs down right away, if I feather the throttle I can get it to rev up high. I believe too much bar oil comes out as well. Sounds like it gets too much gas? I put a new carb kit in.. is there any chance its a leak in bearing or seal? Or would any leak cause it to idle too high? Ive tried adjusting the high on the carburator. submitted by /u/NoNotice3384 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more
