Oil tank for McCulloch 3516?

Picked this chain saw up today. It is leaking oil, close inspection shows the oil tank filler neck is cracked right in the threads and the cap is missing the seal. Any sources for a tank? Anyone parting out a 3516? Or failing that, any one in need of this saw? Anyone got a 3d printing process going to replicate these no longer made, non-structural parts? Thanks, Rick ..read more

Chainsaw chain question

Hey guys, been a while. I'm currently splitting red oak by hand that I cut with a Stihl MS460. Some of the pieces were given to me by arborists who cut each section of tree trunk a little too long to easily split with axe/maul/wedge. So I'm making the first rip with the grain using the 460, but it does not rip as well as it cross-cuts. I'm getting sawdust, not fingernails. And it is taking forever to do one3 22-24 inch rip. Does any chainsaw chain manufacturer make a specialized chain... Chainsaw chain question ..read more

Redback 120V lithium chainsaw w/ bad batteries - Keep it or dump it?

I purchased a Redback 120V lithium chainsaw for $99 a few years back. The company went into chapter 11 and closed down. Their remaining inventory was sold off at rock bottom prices to pay creditors. I knew I was buying into a dead product line but figured I didn't have a lot to lose for that price. Anyway, I was happy with the saw and bought another one as a spare and then a blower kit, mainly for the extra battery. I had two saws and a blower plus 3x batteries and chargers as well... Hello community, I am new to the forum, would appreciate your advise to pick a chain saw for my farm in Portugal. The jobs to be done are pruning and fire wood cutting. Occasionally I would also fell an eucalyptus or a pine up to 12 inch diameter. Kind of have my head set o Husqvarna. I've watched a number of reviews for the Husqvarna 135 Mark II and it seems to be sufficient for my needs, e.g. it has no problem to cut 37cm (14.5 inch) logs. But Husqvarna reference guide puts it into the... Is Husquarna 135 Mark II sufficient for my needs ..read more

I must be doing something wron with my chains. I clean and oil the chains after every use. I don’t use them often bu make sure they are clean and oiled. Every time I go to use the saw the chain links are frozen in a number of the links. I’ve gone through 4 chains on 2 saws and now I’ll be buying another chain because the links on my small pole saw are frozen. I literally left the chain soaking in oil over the winter after I cleaned it and still frozen links ..read more

Echo 310 or 3510 - Which Do I Go With?

Hi all! My first time here and first time posting. I'm looking to get a 16" Echo chainsaw. I've researched the heck out of the 310 and the 3510 models and am torn which one to go with. The price difference is $80. The saw will be primarily used for cutting up fallen limbs, nothing special at all. I am no Paul Bunyan falling trees on a daily basis, if at all lol. What I do like about the 3510 is the better air filter design (easer to replace) and the spring back on/off switch compared to... Echo 310 or 3510 - Which Do I Go With ..read more
