Nylon rope strands in crankcase

Cause i screwed up trying to block the piston with a rope. I think it worked its way to the transfer and got shredded. It's only a joncutter i was trying to change the sprocket on. So it could easily become a parts saw. Looks to me like i need take out the 4 bolts that hold the cylinder down and blow out with compressed air then reassemble. Will i need to replace the gasket at the bottom? Is this right approach ? Thanks ..read more

Ok guys.....I need some help....ya in more ways than one...I know. Here's the situation: Playing with a 550 i that didn't have spark. Purchased a new module and a generator. I try ed the module first...nothing. next I put in the generator and it fired right up!! Now the issue.....I thought (wrong thing to do) I'd put the old module back in and see if it was the generator....no start again. I then put the new module back in and have traced wires....wiggled this and cleaned that....nothing... Read more ..read more

Husky 565 vs 365, innitial impressions.

I've been running a 365 X-torq as my main saw for 12 years now, still bone stock which seems to be something of an irregularity. This spring I found a good deal deal on a new 565 and picked it up, after putting a few tanks of fuel through it I figured I'd give a comparison. I'll answere the usual "Why didnt you buy a 72?" question, cause I know its coming. First off is that in Canada, when I got my 365 the savings were fairly substantial. That has changed for the X-torqs, but the 565 also... Read more ..read more

High Speed Carb Tuning.

Looked at threads re carb tuning and have the following question. Tuned my saws starting at 1 turn open for low and high speed. As a general rule, my saws seem to cut best, with power, with high speed @ 3/4 open(or leaned 1/4turn). Am I safe at this setting or am I flirting with disaster? I guess the question is" How do you know when you've leaned it too much?" Thanks for your thoughts ..read more

Hi all, my first post here but I've been lurking for years. The neighbor has this saw he told me to take a look at, called and told him the bad news today, dealer says $350 in parts, he said he'll think about it but I think I'll end up buying it from him. What's it worth??? Thanks in advance ..read more

How Many Chains

Curious how many chains everyone has for their saw(s). I have 8 for one and 3 for another saw. I'm definitely in the camp of just switching out chains when they get dull vs stopping to sharpen in the field. This dry dirty hedge seems to make quick work of chains ..read more

Sorry if this is a no brainer, but I've got a neighbor who's selling a 24" bar that came on his older Husqvarna 460 Rancher. Will this bar fit on a 365xt? I'd assume so but a few things, like the oil ports in particular, look very different ..read more
