Regional semifinals and finals are set for Thursday and Friday, respectively, across the state. COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio High School Athletic Association softball state tournament begins Thursday morning at venerable Firestone Stadium in Akron, when four schools in each of four divisions will compete for a state championship. Three schools are making their first state tournament appearance, while two teams are back to defend their state title from last year. Kent-  The Kent State Golden Flashes faced Central Michigan in an elimination game in the MAC Championship baseball tournament on Thursday afternoon. The Waynedale Golden Bears (20-9) kept their state championship repeat hopes alive with a 3-0 win over Chagrin Falls (18-11) in the district finals at Norwayne High School. Junior pitcher Otto Solorzano turned in a dominant, complete game shutout performance with seven strikeouts. The next group of recruits are gearing up for their official visits to Ohio State this summer. As of today, there are 34 recruits scheduled to visit Columbus over four weeks in June. Six of the scheduled recruits have already hard committed to Ohio State while TE Colton Heinrich and S Peyton Woodyard have hard committed to Georgia.
