I’ve had Dropbox for years. I liked they could take iPhone photos and convert them. I also like the file system that many other storage companies didn’t have (or as well). But lately I have hated to store anything on Dropbox. First, it’s slow. I mainly use it to store photos and videos so I understand that’s probably why but moving or even just logging in takes so long. Then because I like to sort all my photos, I do it on my laptop for a bigger screen. I do use the website as I don’t like downloading apps on laptop. A long time ago you use to be able to click on the photo to select it, then ..read more

IDrive For Linux now has a control program the user can run, instead of all those little scripts. The upgrade has been hell.
After an install, all local records of what's been backed up are gone. Everything had to be uploaded again. 1.3TB of network upload later, things seem to be OK.
Daily backups aren't running yet. For some reason, the "cron job" didn't start.
Although I don't have "continuous data protection" turned on, processes for it run anyway. They use a lot of resources. DBWriter can use 100% of a CPU and causes character echo to be slow.
So, if you "upgrade", expect to spend a da ..read more

Would you rather?
Get unlimited cloud storage (eg. OpenDrive, JottaCloud, etc.)
Get lifetime cloud storage (eg. pCloud, IceDrive, Filen, Koofr, etc.)
Get flexible cloud storage (eg. Mega)
(lifetime cloud storage can sometimes be stackable so for example, you can buy 2 TB and later on get 10 TB to get 12 TB)

Even the Google and Microsoft business plans don't seem to have a recovery plan, only ransomware defense. I'd just be worried about something infecting my drives given I have Google Drive and OneDrive mounted to my PC. The only thing I could imagine is either disabling mirroring for both (and using something like rclone) or just using another cloud service that's not linked to the file system.

Currently using dropbox family and I hate it. Why do I hate it?
TLDR: Looking for personal experiences with cloud storage that allows for easy management of media files, storage quotas for individual users, smooth UI that is worth making the migration from dropbox
Workflow for photo management: First, the main files we need to share across family are photos & videos. The menus to delete extra files is extremely cumbersome or insufficient. I can either, check off on a long list of thumbnails that I can barely see and delete en mass OR on each individual file, i can right click and find del ..read more

Normally I use Cryptomator with GDrive to upload my movies, as GDrive looks at what you upload.
But what about TeraBox.....I have quite a few movies downloaded from the web / torrent that I am thinking of uploading to TeraBox without encrypting them.
Can I get into trouble with the court or similar?

Anyone notice this? Everytime I open the app it will show an alert (because in Android you can force an alert if any third parth app is accessing your clipboard) that the app is checking my clipboard. Is this really necessary and can it be turned off?

Won't be uploading any private documents at all, but if I just something to backup the photos on my phone (wont be taking photos of documents, passwords, just photos of days out and stuff), is Terabox a good option. I also have the free tier of Mega which I use to upload special photos (like when I went on a school trip to Belgium etc.)
