We’re looking for people to help us help Jazzy. This five-year-old boy first came to TXHH through one of our shelter partners in mid-December. This five-year-old boy wasted no time showing off his sweet demeanor to us, it was clear that his front leg was completely shattered. This was a serious injury that happened to Jazzy much earlier in his life. Since it was never treated, it never healed correctly. This meant his leg, and the severely matted fur around it, was causing him an immense amount of pain. After our own assessment on-site, we agreed with previous veterinary consensus that Jazzy ..read more

Earlier this month, Texas Humane Heroes took in a momma dog named Layla and her two pups. Layla was about about three years old, while her pups, Lea and Lolo, were only a couple weeks. However, there was something special about these two — the puppies were born without front legs. After being looked at by our veterinary staff, it was determined that even without their front legs, they’d be able to live happy, relatively normal lives! The three of them are currently in foster together, Lea and Lolo are almost six weeks old and doing great. They push themselves on their back legs while scurryi ..read more

Helping Howard

This week, one of our amazing fosters found Howard abandoned in a supermarket parking lot. The little guy was confused, sunburned, and badly neglected. Though he was very scared, he clearly trusted our team as we began to assess his condition. After immediately going to work, our amazing veterinary staff was able to determine that he was suffering from mange, ulcerated eyes, and at least one ear infection that seemed to be affecting his balance. Howard has a long road to recovery, but he’s safe and receiving treatment (along with lots of TLC). After everything he’s been through, he’s shown us ..read more

UPDATE: Rose has found her foster hospice home! 3-year-old Rose is as sweet as can be and seems like your average happy-go-lucky dog. She was even in a foster home during Foster Fun Fest, July 3-6, and did fantastically! We learned that she gets along well with cats and kids. She’s potty trained, enjoys walks, cuddles, and LOVES treats (especially peanut butter). She’s great on a leash and doesn’t seem to be bothered by other animals. She of course gets her adorable zoomies but seems to have a calm personality. Overall, Rose is a perfect dog for any home. No one ever suspected that she had a ..read more
