How was your weekend? My goodness we’ve been busy with house stuff. Between the pantry refresh, then getting a new fridge this weekend, and having someone come next week to measure for new kitchen cabinets, it feels a little chaotic on the home from. But let’s back up for a minute and catch up… On Thursday David and I had a long overdue date night. We went to 131 Main, which is such a solid date spot. It’s consistent, the food is good, and the atmosphere is nice without being stuffy; very conducive to date night chatter. I had the seared tuna salad and it was excellent. On Friday the girls an ..read more

Good morning and happy unofficial send of to summer weekend! Labor Day weekend is historically one of my favorite weekends, where summer fun collides with college football in a long weekend of good food and fun. This year, though, we went the low key route and tackled house projects instead. Whomp whomp. In all seriousness though, it did feel good to have some downtime. The girls and I went through all their clothes, started decorating for fall, and listed long overdo items on Facebook marketplace. I cleaned out the entire pantry and David filled holes, painted, and installed new solid shelve ..read more

Good morning, friends! Are you well this morning? Did you have a nice weekend? Don’t you feel that February and August have a similar energy? February can drag on with frigidness and August, with the steamy heat. We might get a tease of a reprieve this week and college football officially kicking off this weekend, I might just give in to H’s request and decorate for fall on September 1. It is who I am and I make no apologies We had a festive back-to-homeschool type of weekend. Friday we met some co-op friends at the park and my friend made such a cute background for back to homeschool pictur ..read more

Good morning and happy Monday from Tennessee! Do I sound like a broken record when I say that the mountains bring me the utmost joy? We are heading home today after a super quick, two-night trip to Bearolina to deliver some new Adirondack chairs, replace lights, check on inventory, annnndddd squeeze in a little fun at Dollywood’s Splash Country. More on that in my next post; today let’s check out our weekly meal plan! Monday I was feeling the desire to try some new recipes, so I made Asian Style Meatballs from The Defined Dish. I was reminded why I don’t make too many Asian style recipes; I l ..read more

Good mid-August Monday morning! I know it’s back to school for a lot of my local friends so good luck to everyone kicking off a new beginning! How was your weekend? We had a nice one. Friday was pizza and movie night. We watched Tomorrowland, which I would not recommend. Saturday we did chores: David painted the boards for the pantry upgrade, Hailey cut the grass, Kaitlyn picked up sticks and helped David paint, and I finally cleared all the random piles of holiday decor, extra homeschool books, delivery boxes and more than had been driving me crazy. We got a last minute boat through our boat ..read more

Hi, good morning, and happy Monday! Now that summer is beginning to wind down and we are getting back to our homeschool rhythm, I’m back sharing our weekly meal plans. See all previous weekly meal plans here. I’m also tracking grocery spending again to share and don’t know how it’s possible but my kids seem to continually need more and more food. Lunches seem to show it most as those tend to be thrown together snack plates and random combos. Why are lunches so hard? This week I bought some bread and cheese and pulled out the old panini maker for easy and hot lunch entrees. Time to start feedi ..read more

Good Tuesday morning to you! I hope my fellow Americans had a nice Memorial Day. We decorated in red, white, and blue, made sure the girls knew that the holiday is about our gratitude to the American soldiers that gave their lives fighting for our freedom and not just the unofficial kick off to summer, but otherwise kept things really low key. I don’t think we’ve ever had a Memorial Day weekend quite like this one, where it stayed 60 degrees and raining the entire time. Well, until yesterday late afternoon when a little sunshine poked through and we all ran outside as fast as we could to soak ..read more

Good morning; how was your weekend? We had a really nice weekend. Mom came up on Thursday afternoon and hung out with the kids on Friday while David and I spent a day in Greenville, SC. Saturday morning, mom, the girls and I hung out in Davidson, eating breakfast, wandering the farmers market, and visiting the bookstore. It was lovely! On Sunday the girls had their piano recital and it was such a joy to watch their progress. H’s song made me tear up; I love watching them play. Mom headed home afterwards and we went to a celebratory dinner, then came home for an evening walk because they weath ..read more

Good morning; how was your weekend? We stuck around the house a lot, which was nice. Time to go on walks (and get caught in sneaky spring rain), work on a couple projects (replacing the light fixtures in the master closet and meeting with a designer about some ideas to spruce up the kitchen), and play some games (Taco Cat Goat Cheese Pizza and Kaitlyn’s pick of Monopoly). For Mother’s Day we went to church, then David took the kids and Finley to a park for a couple hours so I could get things done. We played tennis together in the afternoon, they prepared a yummy salmon dinner, and then we al ..read more
