Hi, I was bought this card as a present quite some time ago - and had opened it at the time and had a look at the contents but with work commitments over the last year, I haven't had time to upgrade my PC with IT. Now that I've gone to do it, I cannot see how to connect it to my PC PSU. The PSU I have is a Gigabyte UD850GM. Looking online it would appear that this PSU is satisfactory power wise for adding the GPU to my system. My issue is the cable required to do this. There's no cable in... Read more ..read more

Currently using a 3070, purchased around the time it was released, and now it's time to upgrade. Budget is around £700 so I'm looking at the 7900XT, would this be a good upgrade? I only tend to upgrade GPU every 2/3 years so it will need to last ..read more

AMD GPU Scaling

Hi all. I'm considering a 4K monitor for productivity, but the monitor will also be used for some gaming. I had debated an Ultrawide or 1440p monitor, but I'm unsure how my other sources will fare with those aspect ratios/resolutions and 4K seems a safer bet. I have an AMD 6800, which does GPU scaling and integer scaling. While I'm probably OK to run current games natively (at least those I play!), I don't intend to upgrade any time soon and in future, I may struggle to run games at 4K... Read more ..read more

3090 FE thermal pad replacement success!

Howdy folks, After seeing some outrageous temps on my 3090 FE, not to mention the jet engine-like noises it was making as a result (loud enough to be heard from a different room with the door closed), I decided I needed to do something about it. Did a bit of reading and was astonished to find some of these premium flagship cards have shipped with garbage thermal pads. So, with some trepidation, I took it apart and replaced them - very carefully. And it seems to have worked. GPU temp: 74°C... Read more ..read more

AMD's graphics card sales just took a nosedive | Digital Trends AMD just reported its financial results for the first few months of 2024, and its gaming business isn't doing so hot. www.digitaltrends.com AMD confirms Radeon GPU sales have nosedived As part of its Q1 2024 financial report, AMD highlights that a decline in its 'Gaming' revenue is due to lower sales of its Radeon GPUs. www.pcgamesn.com I'll preface this by saying that I'm a 7900XT user. But am I surprised? Totally not. Yes, AMD has to make some profit with their GPUs, but they're priced so close to their team-green a ..read more

Putting together a couple of older PC's for Lan gaming when the kids have friends round. Currently games like Roblox, Minecraft, Fortnite, Rocket League etc. One of the systems: I7 2600k H61 (I think) no OC 16GB Antec 450W (very light usage) Kolink Satellite (so space is tight) RX550 2GB Will be 1080p, 60 fps if possibe and the RX550 is pretty limitted. I have a RX6600 I could slot in but thought that would be better with a more recent CPU / platform as it's x8 PCI-E which is even more... Read more ..read more

1440p for around £450

As above looking at best options for gaming at 1440p, some 4K if possible, up to 120fps as will be used with a LG CX OLED. So far options seem to be 3080, 6800/6900 XT from the previous gen or 7800 XT and 4070 from the current crop. Do like the idea of RT but I know it’s not going to be strong at this price point, then there’s DLSS and FSR to consider, it’s a minefield ..read more
