So, been a while since I’ve posted, sorry about that. Issue PRI 45l daysack. I’ve been through some changes in my sustainment kit, enough that it’s worth a full post. Firstly I’ve downsized the pack I’m using, from a full sized British Army Shortback Bergan with side pouches to an British Army issue PRI Daysack with side pouches from an issue ECM Daysack. ECM side pouches empty and flattened under the compression straps The new pack is 45 litres so about half the volume of the old one, the side pouches are a similar size to the old ones but have a different lid more like a proper rucksack. Festive greetings all. Apologies for the lack of 2023 content but it has just been one of those years where other priorities have taken over. I haven’t skirmished for a long time, and thus I think it is time to start shifting some bits. Pretty much everything I have discussed or pictured of my kit […] Chapter 83. Chest rig update

I recently attended my first Stirling Airsoft event and made some changes to my chest rig specifically for that event. Somewhere under here is a Tactical Tailor Mini Mav… A long time ago I picked up a Tactical Tailor Mini Mav (molle only) chestrig for £10 at an airsoft boot fair. Since then the pouches on it have changed frequently to suit a variety of uses. The current base pouches are 3x Templar single 7.62×51 Shingles. I love these as I can carry 3x SCAR H or SR25 mags or 3x 556 PMAGS securely without changing anything. Something I added specifically for Stirling was a pouch to hold a phon ..read more

Poor man’s Peli case

I want a big Pelican case… I want a big Pelican case to hold all my kit at events, unfortunately I can’t afford one so… I’m going to build one. I found a big wheeled storage trunk, long enough to fit an M4 or SCAR with the stock retracted. £22 at Homebase 145l capacity The lid wasn’t hinged so I drilled through the lid and case at 3 points and added cable ties as temporary hinges to test my concept. The newly hinged lid needed stays to stop it flopping over backwards so I drilled a couple of holes and added 550 cord, I chose the locations for the holes carefully to avoid weakening the case or ..read more

The TAK Product Center’s Director, Ryan Mclean’s presentation is available on TAK.Gov, but I thought it was important enough to put on YouTube, particularly for the difference between cost and price and why TAK is a great value for the government and the public. Today my son asked for a sledgehammer… In a conversation over breakfast my son asked if we could build him a breacher style Airsoft loadout including a sledgehammer and bolt cutters. Well with nothing else in the calendar we went shopping, we picked up a length of 32mm pipe from Wickes (which we also needed for a different project) and set to work. 3m length of 32mm pipe, £3.20 First we took a log intended for the fireplace, rounded it off and cut it to length then wrapped it in tape to serve as the hammer head. Then we whittled a scrap of wood to fit in the end of the handle to attach the h ..read more

PTS Kinetic MREX 2.2 for SCAR H/L (TM/VFC)

I’d been looking for an option to streamline and lighten the front of my Tokyo Marui SCAR H. I was originally considering the Airsoft Artisan MLOK rail replacement kit but eventually settled on the PTS Kinetic MREX 2.2 as a locally available drop in solution. PTS MREX 2.2 This all in one rail system replaces the heavy lower rail/handguard and the polymer side rails, it also means you can remove the blocks around the barrel that the rails bolt into. Stock parts removed Stock parts removed The PTS MREX comes in either Black or Dark Earth and a variety of lengths. This being the shortest adding ..read more

I’ve seen a few modded Bergens with mesh pockets for storing wet kit or bashas etc, they looked handy but I wanted something removable so I got creative. I bought a cheap mesh stash pouch from Amazon and a pair of PLCE compatible zips from Contact Left (via ebay) https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Pair-of-Green-YKK-PLCE-Side-Pouch-Bergen-Zips-to-use-on-Rucksack-or-Pouch-/401144858418?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&_trksid=p2349624.m2548.l6249&mkrid=710-127635-2958-0 I sewed the zips straight on to the sides of the mesh pouch. I’m pleased with this simple mod, the mesh pouch is big enough to hold an is ..read more

I had been looking forward to Okto Eights upcoming Operation Leviathan for months. Mapping and paperwork sorted for Crusader Billed as a 3 faction dust up between a NATO JTF force undercover as Crusader Security, a shadowy cabal known as Cerberus and the well established Okto Eight PMC group Phoenix. I had been slowly prepping kit and tweaking AEG’s for months, eagerly awaiting the start of the Faction Messenger chat that’s initiated once the groups are finalised, to get to grips with planning for the event and organising sections and roles. Chestrig ready to rock. Nothing happened. No group ..read more

Dallas Clements posted a video today on how turn a paper map into a Rubber Sheet in CIVTAK/ATAK. I did one a couple of years ago, but his shows how its done with the new user interface. One of the nice things about this is that he gives an elevation-based example of why its better… Adding Rubber Sheets in CivTAK/ATAK ..read more
