Some of the things our team has pulled out of drains in the past, have been enough to leave them speechless.
Blocked drains can be caused by a whole multitude of things, with the most common of these being:
Fatty grease buildup throughout kitchen drains
Roots from trees or shrubs growing in the drains
Broken and insufficient sized drains
Spetics full
Other causes can also include:
Hair getting stuck in the basin and shower drains
Overload of toilet paper being flushed
“Flushable” wipes and sanitary items
Kids toys, rocks and kitchen utensils
But no joke, the list goes on…
Now, we know tha ..read more

This Saturday 25th November, the Master Plumbers and Gas Fitters Association Awards, was held in Perth.
Scott and Mary attended, representing RMC Plumbing Services as finalists in the Customer Service Excellence, Kyla Ann Jones Memorial Award.
Being the first time we have ever submitted an entry for this kind of award, we were unsure how it would all work and if we even had a chance against some of the bigger city companies.
The night started off with Scott Cummings on stage, setting the mood with some classic plumbing humour.
Throughout the evening there were awards, entertainment, great com ..read more

There are two reasons why you shouldn't drink from the toilet.... Number one and number two..
Loo, dunny, crapper, potty or throne..
What ever you may call them, toilets are one of the most underrated, but most appreciated fixtures in a person’s house.
Think about it…
When you wake up – you use the toilet
~
Before you go to sleep – you use the toilet
~
You have visitors over – they use the toilet
~
You go on a camping trip – you miss your toilet
~
Your toilet is broken and you have to use the in-laws’ – you miss your toilet a lot!

When RMC Plumbing Services replaces your toilet – you will ..read more

Whether you have a gas storage hot water unit, electric storage hot water unit or a heat pump storage hot water unit, each of these hot water systems are manufactured with sacrificial anodes. These are fitted to give the hot water cylinders protection from corrosion during the warranty period.
Each anode is made from magnesium or aluminium, which are both soft metals, which attracts particles of calcium, limestone and iron, or other minerals present in the water, through electro-chemical process and corrodes in place of the tank. In other words, it “sacrifices” itself to extend the life of th ..read more

This, is a cistern.
This toilet cistern, is just one of MANY cisterns we come across.
When toilets are leaking with water running into the bowl, or having issues with flushing, this guy, is what we look at first.
Repairs & Replacements
For the most part, we can repair or replace parts inside them, to get them working properly again. When we are unable to source specific parts or parts become too expensive, we may look at replacing the whole cistern altogether.
Often, we can replace the cistern, with a standard plastic cistern, however sometimes the cistern required may be specific to the ..read more

When you were a kid, what was that one toy that you always wanted when you grew up?
We're not saying that the boys have grown up much by any means, but Rory has dreamed of having his own excavator for YEARS!
Finally in December 2022, that dream came true!
This new mini excavator will be used regularly on our larger jobs, for digging trenches for pipeline's and holes for new septic's and soak well's.
Yesterday was the first time taking the new digger out, to install a new sewer main for a property subdivision. The digger was able to fit down the side of the house allowing a much quicker excava ..read more

Mini stops are tiny little taps are designed to isolate the water supply to the individual fixtures in your home. This may include the water supply to your toilets, basins and kitchen sink.
Unless you need to isolated the water from time to time, you probably forget they are even there.
Because they are often forgotten about, you don't know that are no longer working properly, until you end up with a pesky dripping tap or running toilet, that you just can't turn off.
Whilst these little things are easier to manage with a faulty mini stop, if a flexi hose bursts and the mini stop is not workin ..read more
